Posted October 25, 200915 yr comment_298402 as original, how many at the front and at the rear?Is it possible that some models have been removed originally from the dealer and some may still have them?It just came to my attention today looking at some original literature where I see one towing hook on the left side but I also have a cable hook on the right side.It is the same basic set up at the rear where I have a cable hook and a towing hook.Is there any documentation if some of these hooks were used just for securing the cars on cargo ships back in the beginning of the first batch of S30sI am very curious because I have four hooks on mine. October 25, 200915 yr comment_298406 Richard, a 240Z only has one tow hook bolted to the frame at the right front (2 large bolts). They also had three shipping tie downs, one on the left front and one on each rear bumper bracket. The three shipping tie downs were supposed to have been removed by the selling dealer during the pre-delivery prep. Many dealers apparently skipped that step.Good discussion on this in this thread:http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23699 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/33640-early-240z-towing-hooks/#findComment-298406 Share on other sites
October 25, 200915 yr comment_298433 Oh great. After spending time and money on my missing rear tow hooks, it looks like I will have to remove them before the Nashville show. Not much of a problem, just don't want to lose a point or two for having them on.Bonzi Lon Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/33640-early-240z-towing-hooks/#findComment-298433 Share on other sites

I never lost any points for them when my car has been judged by the ZCCA. But if you only have part of a set it could cost a point or two. October 26, 200915 yr comment_298543 According to the post Arne supplied (above) Carl Beck says that they should of been removed by the dealer and not been part of the car's sale. I'll just leave them and hope for the best. It will by my first Nationals, lots to learn by then.Bonzi Lon Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/33640-early-240z-towing-hooks/#findComment-298543 Share on other sites
