mbarjbar Posted October 26, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 26, 2009 How can I tell if my car has factory A/C or some aftermarket system? Car is a 1970 Z. Looks like a York compressor, positioned lower left under the distributor. There is a small dial for the A/C attached to the bottom of the dash to the right of the steering column. Does not work at present. Thanks, Mike
zed2 Posted October 26, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 26, 2009 Mike,The A/C on the 1970 240Z was not a factory option in US destination cars. The unit you are describing is the aftermarket system, usually installed by the dealer.I have a similar system. Is there a manufacture's name or part number on the drive belt to the compressor? Thanks,Keith
mbarjbar Posted October 27, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted October 27, 2009 Keith,There is a plate on the compressor, under a lot of crud, that I will clean to read. Looks like a set of numbers. I'll let you know what the numbers are tomorrow. Nothing on the compressor drive.Mike
