Posted October 29, 200915 yr comment_298890 Tim Suddard is selling the GRM 240Z project car. Here is a link to the ad:http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/grm-project-240z-for-sale/15570/page1/In the description, the rear wheel horsepower is incorrectly stated as 267. A later post corrects that to 167. Here is a link to the project car page which shows the multiple projects where the car has been featured in the magazine:http://classicmotorsports.net/project-cars/1970-datsun-240z/Gary S. October 29, 200915 yr comment_298901 I love that car. If I didn't already have a really nice driver 240Z, I'd be all over that one. October 29, 200915 yr Author comment_298906 Yes, there's much to recommend it, and the documentation from a reputable enthusiast doesn't hurt. The cost of getting it home would have to be factored in - I'm assuming the car is in Florida. Hmm, Florida to Springfield, OR. or Spokane, WA., it doesn't get much farther than that!Gary S. October 30, 200915 yr comment_298956 I became a subscriber to Classic Motorsports to follow the build of this car!If I wasn't already in the midst of the restoration process with my own Z-- this would be the one I'd like to put in my garage. Here is some additonal info I have received from corresponding with Tim this year:The Noltec Softride Poly bushings that are mentioned as worthless in the online article have been replaced with new factory rubber bushings. The zx 5-speed transmission is paired with a 3.54 differential. (This may not be the pairing most enthusiasts would recommend for spirited/ mountain driving--but then again, Florida doesn't offer much in the way of hill climbs...)Rich Edited October 30, 200915 yr by Rich1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/33687-grassroots-motorsports-240z-project-car-for-sale/#findComment-298956 Share on other sites

October 30, 200915 yr comment_298982 At #12,500.00 ????? or did I read that wrong?Carl B.I saw $12,000 even. Looks like a heck of a deal to me, accepting that I've not seen the car in person. November 1, 200915 yr comment_299084 The engine is fresh and strong.... It is a 240 head and block. It is not the original block, but the original block (now cracked) also comes with the car.Did anyone else see this in the for sale post by Tim Suddard? The cracked block was never mentioned in Classic/Grassroots motor build articles. I wonder if the block cracked before or after the L24 rebuild article? RichLet me put in a plug for Classic Motorsports- a great magazine! The one magazine that gets read cover to cover in my house. November 1, 200915 yr comment_299091 So what would be the point in taking a cracked block? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/33687-grassroots-motorsports-240z-project-car-for-sale/#findComment-299091 Share on other sites
November 1, 200915 yr comment_299119 $12k for a non matching numbers Z? I would need to see high res photos of all the problem areas in a Z. It is too easy to miss things when examining select, relatively low res magazine pictures. Theses details make a difference as to whether I pay $5k, $8k, $12k, or $20k.Don't get me wrong, I love GRM and Classic Motorsport magazines. In fact I have 10 year subscriptions, but the photos I looked at on the mag website didn't show it as being super clean, just cleaned up.Al Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/33687-grassroots-motorsports-240z-project-car-for-sale/#findComment-299119 Share on other sites
