Can't say i noticed any of those you mentioned Camguy but the engine has only 1,100 miles and the battery fully charged. Stayed at 14 only spiking to full on start up. Well the day i noticed this i sat in the car and turned the ignition to the ALT position then played the radio for 20 or 30 minuts. When i finally started the car thats when i saw it, thought that the battery was drained some but she starts and runs fine other than that.

Incidentally, I discovered today we have a dimmer on our gauge lights as I was looking through the FSM today. I have never even noticed the knob till today!

Now that's funny. Did ya know you can also reset your odometer? just curious. and messing with ya. Good to hear things are getting better. Also, I'm gonna throw your box in the mail tomorrow, even thow your payment hasn't shown up yet. I put that relay in there but I won't promise you can use it on your 240Z. but hey, it's free, so do what ya want.

Dave, do your turn signal and headlight harnesses help with that? I imagine this is a major reason to do the mod, aside from taking the big current out of the dash and switches.

That's exactly what the Headlight and parking light upgrades address. They introduce the needed relays that Nissan forgot to instal. Brighter everything and less damage to the switches and fusebox fuses. And that saved power will make the turn signals brighter and better responsive.

I think I might have a "Precious" for ya. if I find it, I'll throw it in the brake parts box with the Acc. relay. PS. I love your interior. now ya know, but don't tell my wife.

Dave

Awesome, thanks! Why would I ruin the fun by telling anyone's wife? :stupid::tapemouth

The interior on this car was the main reason why I was so drawn to the car. When someone tells you the car sat for 10+ years in the garage you think, "great, everything is rotted". Obviously that is not the case. My Z was this guy's father's car before the father passed away. I know when I take it back to show him and give him a ride, he'll appreciate the work I've done and appreciate that someone else will give the car the love it deserves. When I was thinking about Z's, the last thing I wanted was a brown car with some funky tan interior but I tell you, it's grown on me and I love it now. The butterscotch is near unobtanium now, which is why I'm thinking of storing the seats while I drive with some alternative Porsche seats.

You know it's funny because I figured that out but I didn't see the other knob. A former QC inspector... some inspector ROFL :stupid:

If it works, cool, if it doesn't, maybe someone can use it. It's only fair right? You really should see that letter soon, the bay area to Washington shouldn't take very long at all

Another reason why they are on the to-do list. As I always say, more ideas than my bank account can handle :paranoid:LOL

Totally fair, and it's out of my fricken garage. bout time I found a sucker. hehehe snicker snicker. Still giggling about the dimmer....

Dave

Simple things right? I am freakin stoked I have a dimmer for my dim dash lights ROFL

I saw that on the wiring diagram of all things and was thinking, hey! what's that?? Omg I was so happy that my stupid car had a dash light dimmer

Now if only I could accidentally find some steering wheel controls like my Civic has... that would be cool!

Andy, the Blaster 2 coil is available in red, black, or chrome. I personally don't mind the color under the hood, but that's just me.

FAIW, I've been through a couple of changes of alternator now. The one I replaced was a Japanese rebuild whose voltage regulator failed, giving me mild overvoltages. Output from that alternator would sag at idle. I replaced it with a Duralast (rebuilt in Mexico) that failed suddenly after a month (went dead). While it was working, its output would sag at idle. My most recent Duralast rebuild (rebuilt in the US) does NOT sag at idle unless it's under a bit of load (e.g. headlights). These have all been the 60A internally regulated alternators original to the 1978 year. So I guess it's luck of the draw.

I would have to agree with that. I've had one of the guys at my friend's shop say that even the Bosch remans haven't been reliable for them for some things.

The alternator I have was given to me by my friend. When I checked the PN, I found it to be for a 78-80 280. It wasn't charging and one of my dad's customers is an Auto-electric shop in Oakland. They said the diodes were toast. They rebuild everything in house so they fixed it up and I had it back in short order.

I honestly like the updated technology but I like to keep it OE looking. I like it when it 'looks' like it belongs there
