I'm with 240ZX above. Mine is simply "the Z" or "the Datsun". While the parts cars still existed, they were all identified by color - "the red Z", "the yellow Z", etc.

In fact, I can take it much farther than that. I bought my first car in 1973, and I have never named a single one. Closest I've ever come is my current BMW K75-RT motorcycle - very dark metallic gray-black, de-chromed with no reflectors, its plate reads "STLTH K". But even that is more of a description than a name.

Remember, there are not many cars out there today that can be identified with a single letter - Z!

"The Renowned Mr. Brown" for obvious reasons.

Cheers' date=' Mike[/quote']My Z didn't have a name but I simply called my 810 'Brown' because of the UPS color. (As in the ad, What can Brown do for you?)

yeah I might have to settle for no name other than 'the Datsun'. A name shouldn't be forced on a car, it should just happen. Although when I drove over to my mechanic friend's place, his wife called it the Penis car. So maybe I'll call it that!

I also refer to her as "The Z", but she does have name... Kikka. Not unlike my wife, who I do refer to as "My Wife", but she also has a name ;)

Another thing, while I totally am okay with the whole "Last letter in the alphabet is the first letter in performance" bit... it does get a bit annoying when the domestic boys always think you're talking about a Z/28, and the eurotrash crowd immediately thinks BMW Z series.

My wife calls my Datsun "Your Fair Lady" with that special jealous pout that only women in secure relationships can get away with...

But, buying her the 2008 Mustang GT seems to have eased her pain.;)

I half-heartedly call mine Betty Brown based on the color. I'm not sure that will stick but that's the name unless she defines herself otherwise once I finally get her back on the road.

The 4runner is called Jaderunner, again after the color but there's no gender reference here since it's too burly to be feminine, and the name Jaderunner isn't very manly.

  • 2 weeks later...

i'm holding off on naming mine until the new paint is done, cause i'm changing the color from white to BRG, and i'm sure the character of the car will change as well.

until then, it's just Baby :)

I tend not to name cars. HOWEVER, if my Z ever has an equally cool garage mate for any longer than a year, I suspect they'll become "Thelma" and "Louise." The temptation would be too much.
