Posted November 24, 200915 yr comment_301214 Well I've wanted a Z since I was 12 years old. That was 1983. I got one this weekend. On the plus side: the engine is newish, the interior is good, there is minimal rot. On the bad side, it has been at least three colors, the wheel wells are cut and flares are mudded on, the the stock front valance pieces are non existent. None the less, I'm pretty psyched. Any other owners in Southern NM? I think I've seen one S30 on the road around here. It had a wing and louvers that I didn't like at all, so they are removed (and potentially for sale cheap.) My brother and I put the bumpers back on, but to make the 280 bumpers less obnoxious, we drilled out the gas shocks on the bumper mounts and compressed them as far as they go. I'm working on cutting down the rubber bits to match. Attached is a before and after picture. I ride KTM motorcycles, so orange fits me well. There were a few models of KTM that came with orange pain and gold metallic in the clear coat. It was cool, but I'm not sure how that would look. I don't have the vin at hand, I'll look it up later and post back. NM, and the southwest in general, does have some of the best driving roads. My fav is in Arizona, rt191 from Clifton to Alpine. EDIT: Found my VIN online (with my insurance co): HLS30-203273 Geof Edited November 25, 200915 yr by abruzzi Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/33924-finally-new-z-owner-in-new-mexico/#findComment-301327 Share on other sites

November 30, 200915 yr Author comment_301715 So where in Southern NM, I was raised in Capitan?I live in Mesilla, right outside Las Cruces. Most of my motoring happens on two wheels, but I'm looking forward to taking this car on some of the mountain roads, like south of Cloudcroft, or Emory Pass near Hillsboro.Geof Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/33924-finally-new-z-owner-in-new-mexico/#findComment-301715 Share on other sites
