The original plastic was a white translucent, but I don't think quite as white as the MSA version. In any event, they all faded over time.

The original Nissan part has been NLA for a long time now. Try to find a used one that isn't melted, broken, missing, painted or undercoated on!

Most 240s today don't even have them anymore (take a look!). The MSA part is a decent replica and the only game in town.

It's not the only game in town. These are the same ones that Banzai Motorworks (zzxdatsun.com) had made and has been selling since August at $48.25 (part #WH-04). From what I have seen, MSA seems to buy and resell reproductions made by others, rather than do it themselves.

And they sell them for a higher price. They also sell stuff that you can still get from Nissan also at a higher price. I hate to throw MSA under the bus since so many people seem to be impressed by them but I never have been.

They do have alot of good stuff, but they are way high on alot of things. $62.00 for a piece of plastic is sick. I still have the original and a couple of others that I took off other cars. Just cleaned them up and they are fine. There are alot of parts for these cars left, you just have to take the time and look.MSA wants nearly $300.00 for a stock power antenna and you can get one several "places' for considerably less. I like MSA but they get what they get because there are alot of people willing to pay their price. And to be totally fair I have bought parts from them because I was in a bind and needed a part and could not get it anywhere else at the time. Furthur, never had a bad transaction with them and they were easy to work with. You can find almost any part for these cars( new or used) if you take the time to look and do the research. Almost.:classic: Just my two cents.

Perhaps the best defense of MSA. They are reliable and easy to work with.

Their marketing specialty is to be a one-stop Z-car parts shop. So naturally there are parts that they buy from other vendors and mark-up. That is the cost of the one-stop convenience for the customer, and in fairness there is a word for a company that doesn't make a profit on the items it sells. That word is bankrupt.

Not all of MSA's items are overpriced either. Many items that they sell are way below the price at a dealer, or most other internet sources. If you want the best price, shop around.

The cover that is the actual focus of this thread is nice in my opinion. I don't need one, since I am using a ZX alternator, but I don't see anything obvious wrong with that piece.

And for full disclosure, I have no relationship to MSA, or any other car parts retail outlet.
