Posted October 29, 200222 yr comment_17767 I have looked at some past posts regarding octane and the use of lead sub. Seems to be a variety of opinion. I am looking for a general all purpose answer. My car is a '72 with an L24 engine stock with original valve seats, etc. Am I safest in using the highest octane rated gas - 91 or 92 - and lead substitute? I love the car and would like to improve the performance a bit. I am not interested in jackrabbit starts, racing, or high end speed. What I do like is the acceleration in 4th at around 60 mph. At the risk of sounding naive or lacking knowledge in such things, is there a simple way to increase that acceleration? October 29, 200222 yr comment_17807 If you are looking for more accelleration at 60mph, downshift, you are not properly using the gears in fourth.. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/3399-octanelead-sub/#findComment-17807 Share on other sites
