December 6, 200915 yr comment_302420 Ouch. Those pics make me sad. Like Richard Oben said, buy the best body and paint you can find. Don't limit your search to Ohio and Jersey. Good luck! December 6, 200915 yr comment_302424 You may be able to use NADA since Kelly does not list vehicle values before 1989. Here's the NADA search for 79 280ZX:http://www.autotraderclassics.com/find/vehicle/vehicleSearchResults.xhtml?utm_source=nada&utm_medium=links&utm_content=nada8&utm_campaign=partnership+link&startYear=1979&make=Datsun&model=280ZX&address=98685The least expensive is $2995 in Seattle.Their Price Guide page shows the folllowing prices:LOW - AVERAGE - HIGH$2,725 - $4,775 - $7,475 Here's the link:http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=1-22-1-5013-0-0-0&l=1&w=22&p=1&f=5014&y=1979&m=1254&d=802&c=13&vi=79115&z=98685&da=-1It will take some effort to get the proper payment, but it's what they owe you. December 6, 200915 yr comment_302441 Work with the insurance people. Get prices from eBay and classic auto trader. Try to find a car before you settle. I got hit a lot of years ago in a 71 and found a 72 for what we both agreed was a similar car. They came up with a few extra dollars to avoid me getting ugly with them. HTH, Cheers Richard. December 7, 200915 yr comment_302594 Great advise above. Insurance Co. are like a necessary evil. They can and will screw you every chance they get if you don't put up a fight yet it's something you must have. Anyway I too have a 1977 that I plan on putting up for sale in the spring not because I want to but because due to the tougher economic times it forces me to. It's a beautiful low mileage Z so it may be out of your price range anyway here is an attached photo of it. took this before I put her away for winter storage. Best of luck with everything, Jared Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/34019-looking-for-z/?&page=2#findComment-302594 Share on other sites
