We got our first taste of winter in Southern New Hampshire this morning! Its been snowing since around 6:00 am.

Enough of that. I was curious to hear what everyone who has to put up with cold snowy winters, does with their car(s) this time of year. I will continue to work on mine, of course, but what is the best way to do this? My garage is older, no heat. For the most part I'll be going back and forth from the garage to the basement to work on parts.

5 degrees here Thursday night,looking at a radiant heater for my garage.

It was a bone chilling 41 degrees here this morning and the closest snow is several thousand feet up the mountain. Winter in the California desert is actually the best driving season and preferred time of year to be outside working on the car. The Z is a little harder to start on these mornings but the Porsche comes out of the garage and the top comes off!

Z season ends about November 1 here in western New York. I tuck three of my cars in the garage for the winter, the fourth has to sleep in my son's garage nearby. Luckily my "Z" garage is separate from the "family" garage and is heated. It also has a mechanic pit, compressor and stairway access to the basement where I store my parts.

For the winter months, I usually catch up on smaller projects with the cars, something I can take my time with as they won't be driven again until spring anyway. Depending on what needs to be done, for more room I sometimes move the center car out and move the end cars in as they are on casters.

Depending on the road salt condition, they usually emerge again around mid-April. I'm going through withdrawl already!!

A cold front is moving thru-its 65 today.Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Here in Idaho we have three seasons, winter, summer and construction. All the way up to 25 now. 60X100 heated shop with a lift..........and can barely get a Z in. Maybe this winter I'll start by cleaning out the shop...........

A chilly 8 degrees here this morning, but no snow. I'm planning on a road trip to Montana on Tuesday so I can trailer my '78Z back. The 370Z is going in the hanger for the winter and I'll have all winter to work on the 280Z in a nice 3 car garage. I just have to figure out an effective way to keep warm. I can't wait.

Seems like the only issue for a lot of us is heat. How effective are those radiant heaters? And, are you (vercingetorix) referring to one of those "portable" ones? Or the full System?

What is the rule of thumb (that must follow) for winter driving?

I have owned my 280z since August of this year. I don't plan on driving it in the winter, but was curious what others do?

those pics were from last year. That was nothing compared to the blizzard we I had in '82. Then you could barely see the roofs of the cars. I basically had to tunnel my way out.

So far this year I have had to shovel the drive about 4 times. Luckily the temps were above freezing following the storm and the snow didn't last long.

In the denver area it isn't unheard of to see 70F during winter. This past week we have seen a couple of days in the single digits.
