Winter conditions!

Seems like the only issue for a lot of us is heat. How effective are those radiant heaters? And, are you (vercingetorix) referring to one of those "portable" ones? Or the full System?

John

Looking at these:http://www.heatershop.com/garage_heater_mh25lp.html

But I will have to research the altitude issues I'm at about 7300 ft

I garage it as soon as the streets slick up. Homeboy is like a cow on roller skates when its slick and the only weight over the rear wheel is my butt.

As far as heating your work space, radiants are good for heat, but if you're right in front of it it can get too hot. They will warm you and not the air around you.

You could probably get one of those bullet heaters from a pawn shop and run it sporadically to keep the chill out. This is what I do when I work on my car in my brother's garage.

As always with gas/kerosine fired heaters be careful of CO and keep it ventilated.

I'm lucky, i've got a little pot belly stove in my detached garage. hasn't been too cold here yet.

when temp drops, i'll go out and start a fire a half hour before i want to work.

if i keep it going, i can maintain about 50 degrees (higher if i really feed it) which for me is really comfortable to work.

used to work in a chemical warehouse on a forklift in 40 degree weather, so 50-55 is OK by me.

Darrel, based on that photo I'm tempted to turn you over to PETZ (Peope for the Ethical Treatment of Z's)!

As for me, the recent cold temps here in Colorado haven't slowed me down. What snow we've had has melted within a few days and my Z is ready to head out on a moment's notice if the sun is shining and the roads are clear.

Then there is the other '73 I have that will be getting a LT1/T56. It is in the 40' X 60' heated shop. I finished up a little filler work and shot some primer on the hood and passenger door today. Tomorrow I hope to tackle the driver side door.
