Who has owned their Z the longest?

It wasn't. I was working at the dealership at the time and that was the day I placed the order. Not sure the exact date I took delivery but, yes, it wasn't until at least mid-May.

Ok, cool. I just looked up Her Majesty's pedigree and I have three Cambell Motors receipts spanning between April 3rd and April 29th. Remember all that conversation about an October '69 sale? Then there was a blurb about what constituted a sale? I was thinking a dictionary should have been consulted.

What gives me a chuckle about the uninterrupted ownership thing is the irony of most everything I have learned about the Z. "Once you think you got it, you find the exception!" I think if anyone is going to be crowned king in this contest, they should have the original bill of sale to prove it.

I know it's not a Z but Dad is still driving his 66 Roadster he bought new in 66. There are a surprising number of 1 owner Roadsters out there for the small production numbers. I am the 2nd owner of my 64 1500 and my 17 year old Son is the 2nd owner of a 70 2000.

Dad drives the Roadster at least once a week still.

While I'm sure there are a couple others who have owned their Zs longer, I do still have my Bill of Sale for HLS 3028911 dated November 22, 1971.

I'd like to clear this up a bit.

Firstly, I said that technically, my ownership did not qualify under the text of the question as to which of us had the longest continuous ownership. So, Carl, thank you, but I do not qualify as a "contiguous" owner.

Secondly, I purchased my Z on 15 April 1970, and have the dealer-signed warranty booklet, owner's manual and window sticker to substantiate that statement.

Thirdly, congratulations to those of you having the foresight to have held on to your gems. You never had to realize the mistake you could have made by selling your Zs.

Regards,

Frank

I would be surprised to learn that 488 was even in this country on 1-12-70. From everything I can gather, the first deliveries began in April / May of 1970. Her Majesty was delivered in May. If such the case, we won't have a 40 year owner until this spring.

According to R& T - the first boat to carry 240Z's arrived in Jan. 1970 with 20 cars. BRE got their first Z in early Jan. and that was HLS30 00492. So very possible that #488 was one of the first 20 to arrive in Jan. 70

FWIW,

Carl B.

At first blush, that wouldn't make sense necessarilly. However I see on your list, Carl, that original owner #100 bought HLS30-00355 in Washington in March 1970.

Interesting.

Interesting that a small town like Aberdeen, WA would get a 240z so early.

Carl, I don't see HLS30-00355 listed on your list of 'found' 1969 production cars (updated as of Aug 11, 2009).
