Unkle Posted December 11, 2009 Share #26 Posted December 11, 2009 (edited) ???????? The original post asks for the '' longest , uninterrupted '' ownership ! The ''spirit'' of the question suggests no selling , no defaults , abductions into space , one's Dad passing it down etc. You gentlemen down South gotta play by the rules ! Frank would have the longest '' interrupted '' original ownership title hands down .... sblake01 Posted December 11, 2009 Share #29 Posted December 11, 2009 I bought my 70 on January 12, 1970. HLS30-00488. I can always recall the date because it was the day after Super Bowl IV. (Chiefs 23-Vikings 7) Unfortunately, I sold it in late 71, not sure of the date, and haven't seen it since.

From everything I can gather, the first deliveries began in April / May of 1970. Her Majesty was delivered in May. If such the case, we won't have a 40 year owner until this spring. And I think Frank is stretching the rules a bit however I agree with Carl's ruling on the matter.

I was working at the dealership at the time and that was the day I placed the order. Not sure the exact date I took delivery but, yes, it wasn't until at least mid-May. zcar70 Posted December 12, 2009 Author Share #33 Posted December 12, 2009 (edited) [quote name='26th-Z;311199 And I think Frank is stretching the rules a bit however I agree with Carl's ruling on the matter. My intention with this thread was to see how many folks have had their Z for the longest UNINTERRUPTED stretch of time. Buying' date=' selling and buying again would not count. Original owner, no. Longest owner, yes. Sorry Carl! If the first Zs were delivered approximately 5/70, then the longest time span we should have would be 39 years, 6 months. So who took delivery in May of 1970 out there? [b']and WHERE? (city/state) Edited December 12, 2009 by zcar70
sblake01 Posted December 12, 2009 Share #34 Posted December 12, 2009 IIRC mine came in sometime in mid to late May, 1970 at Pomona Valley Datsun, Pomona, California. I'm fairly certain it wasn't June yet because I drove it to school (Cal Poly Pomona) for a couple of weeks before Summer break.

Buying, selling and buying again would not count. Original owner, no. Longest owner, yes.Don't you mean original owner - yes, longest owner - no, since he was the first person to buy the car, but he hasn't owned it the entire time?-Mike
Goose52 Posted December 12, 2009 Share #36 Posted December 12, 2009 I was wondering who has owned their Z the longest? That is the longest, continual, uninterrupted length of time? It sorta seems clear - the longest uninterupted time. You could be the SECOND owner of a 69/70 car and have a longer period of ownership than I have as the original, and only, owner of a 72 car.Perhaps another nuance (for another thread) would be who has been a Z-driver the longest...especially since a number of long-term owners had their cars in storage or under restoration for periods extending to many years...
