December 16, 200915 yr comment_303484 When you mention "tapping into the ignition wires", I presume you mean wiring it as the schematic you posted specifies, if so; yes it would work. The resistor is bypassed in the START mode of the ignition switch, i.e the points/dizzy get full voltage sent from the ignition switch first through the tach and then to the points. In the RUN mode, the voltage is first sent through the resistor, then to the tach and then to the points.E Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/34133-few-ez-wiring-questions-72-240/?&page=2#findComment-303484 Share on other sites
December 17, 200915 yr Author comment_303574 Okay, cranked her over this morning. Battery in the car is toast so I've been 'jumping' it from my running car. After just a little bit of cranking it hiccuped. It's just keep barely firing- but I found after measuring the voltage going into the coil was dead when in the 'run' position. Apparently my harness does not keep the coil hot while in the 'run' position. For testing's sake- I should be safe making a jumper from the batt+ to the coil? Also- which wire on the alt would be the excitor? April 7, 20205 yr comment_596618 I hate to resurrect a dead post but this is the most complete post I have found on the 240z and EZ wiring harness. Did you ever figure out the wiring for the coil?
