Welcome to the forum, glad to see anther college student interested in Zs (like myself). My best advice before you start looking for one is to read up much as possible on this forum then try and buy the best condition one you can afford.

Glad your not taking your shops advice, Hondas = 4 banger economy car and nothing more.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I have a Z and a Honda.. I like my Honda... cheap and reliable.. ( I beat the SHHH out of it) and still gives me 35mpg. There are plenty of cheap and available mod's you can do to a Honda, but if you want something different, a Z is the way to go. It depends what your looking for, I know many fast honda's and a few fast Z's they are very different and special in their own ways.

Ah the flashbacks. I had a 73 Dart Sport 340 back when. I sold the car to go to college. I am certain I am still alive because of that. Only car I ever owned that would boil the tires at 60 mph going down the road. Z's are a whole different world. While I have a garage full of Z's and not a single muscle car. I still yearn for a 70 AAR Challenger......

As Z Tyler said, read through the posts here and check out some other sites as well. Many of the folks here are purests which is awesome. Other sites go pretty radical with the Z's, often ending up with the only thing Z is the serial number. To each their own. Personally, I straddle that fence so that I can enjoy both. Z's are a lot like women, do a little homework and don't settle for the first one you find (you can always come back) and test drive a few as they are all different. Pick a good one and you'll be happy for a long time to come. Get one that requires ongoing maintenance, well, it can be a struggle.

I grew up around and with muscle cars. Loved them then and now. I really love my 72 Z car though as well. :classic: I was down at the Dodge dealership today and looked at a 2009 Black Hemi Challenger. I would almost remove a body part to get my hands on that bad girl. Man what a ride.:classic: Now all I need is 30+ thousand dollars.

Nah, you don't want to be the ubiquitous kid in a Honda with a loud muffler. That would be sooooooo cliche! (No offense, BeeBee!)

No, there's something very cool about a vintage sports car, whether American, Japanese, or any other nationality. Good choice!

Welcome!

While a late model Civic Si will lay down better times than a stock 240Z, when it's all said and done... you're still driving a Civic... and it's front wheel drive

The only issue I can you see you facing is being able to find one in decent shape... Minnesota can't exactly be overloaded with solid 240's. But if you are patient I'm sure you'll be able to find one. Best word of advice I can offer is to buy the best example you can afford.

Happy Hunting!
