January 10, 201015 yr comment_305708 Welcome to the forum Lefforge and good luck with your car. Out of curiosity, would you mind defining the word "foramites" used in the subject line of this thread? I'm not familiar with this term and can't seem to find a definition for it or anything close in spelling that seems relevant.Could have meant forum-ites? January 17, 201015 yr Author comment_306402 Sorry, guys. Been on the road so let me catch up....--VIN# HLS30286777--Coppell is in NW Dallas Co east of Grapevine/Flower Mound--Yep, found corrosion in all those areas, but nothing soft yet--You're right I do need to get to the Arlington gig--You won't find Forum-ite in Websters (and yes I goofed up the spelling). I am involved with a large forum in my industry and that salutation gets tossed around. I did find this in the Urban Dictionary though;forumite: A regular at any given Internet message-board system, or "forum".Okay, I need manuals....any sources you guys rec? I found a factory owners manual and shop manual that were pricey. I don't mind paying that price but I also am still not experienced enough to determine worth yet. My immediate problem is a sticky hi-beam switch or relay. I get driving lights but no hi-beams. January 17, 201015 yr comment_306405 76 Factory Service Manual - in really good condition - $75.00 isn't out of the question - and in Perfect Condition $125.00.... All depends on having two people that need one - on E-Bay at the same time.Wait long enough.. and you can pick them up for $35.00.Most likely "switch" or both your high beams are burned out. A relay will usually cause one side or the other {left/right} to go out.FWIW,Carl B. January 17, 201015 yr Author comment_306416 Awesome wiring diagram. Yes, that works great and it is pretty obvious its the switch. Maybe I'll luck-out and it will turn out to be a simultaneous r/l hi-beam filament failure....yea, right. January 17, 201015 yr Author comment_306434 Those are correct for a '76 280Z as well. They used those from '72-76.Welcome, boflyer! Thanks! It's been fun exploring this car. The Z-car thing goes way, way back with me to the early 70's when my Dad's best Friend bought a 240 before he got out of USAF. That influenced my oldest brother, who was just starting his USAF career as a ROTC graduate from the U of Arizona, to get a 240. Myself, being the youngest brother, was subsequently hard-wired to own a Z, and eventually in 1983 I bought a 1978 280Z. Life happened and in the mid 90's I sold it. For you 280Z experts....what I gave up was the 1978 Champaign-gold, cream interior, push-bar bumper, factory mag wheel version. So I buy this '76 last month and as I'm going through it I pull back the rear deck rug and see those two latched compartments behind the seats. I had forgotten all about those cool secret hiding spots. Latter that day I'm driving the car and have the radio set to a local classic rock station and .38 Specials song 'Hold on Loosely' starts playing through those original speakers. It was a pretty cool day. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/34200-greetings-fellow-z-car-foramites/?&page=2#findComment-306434 Share on other sites
