Thank you all very much. Like I said, I can't wait to start playing. I'm hopeing I can move her (don't know why but the car strikes me as a female personality) down to my house so I can be able to work on her daily.

The reason she is a she is man has always named vessels female, it's a tradition. Beside some people say guys need more than one girl she should be happy the other is a car.

You do have what we refer to as a "PROJECT" I got a 72 in just about the same shape more or less. Plan on taking several years to get it like you want. If you forget anything or cut any corners you will just have to fix it again. As someone said earlier "THINK TWICE FIX ONCE"! It won't be a wallet killer unless you go over the top with restoration work. Before you spend a penny decide if you want OEM or heavily modded or a combination. My suggestion is to first get the body tight again. While doing this you will be able to decide what engine and drivetrain setup you want as well as the interior. GOOD LUCK!

Underside looks clean. I mean, obviously dirty, but looks free from rust. I have noticed a couple spots where it could have some, but I plan on power washing the underside to check it out.

I've already planned on it taking several years. I'm thinking a combination of the two. I guess that's called a resto-mod around here? Anyway, I'd like to keep much of it stock with some relatively minor mods. Thanks! I'll need all the luck I can get.

Nothing like the rust gremlins.

I've found if the car is drivable to drive it around and let it breakdown, and loosen out the bugs, before the tear down slightly louse wires stuff just ready to go, go besides nothing like finding out something electrical goes out under the dash only when you make a hard left turn things like that. The door buzzer would go off everyoneces and a while if I turned left hard enough in my current car, or the aftermarket radio turns off the headlights.

The radio turned the lights off? Was that one of the special functions? :P

No they wired the radio into the headlight fuse (before the fuse) and it would blow the fuse when I turned on the headlights and radio I don't why but it don't do that anymore. Also the radio stayed on when the keys were out

The guy I bought the car from had two first cars, this was one, the other was a M3 his parent bought him new. He didn't know a whole lot about the car he only owned it for 4 years. That 4 years accounts for 50%-75% of the cars problems.

Now I contacted the cars first owner, boy he loved that car. I hated to ask questions about problem on the car that the last owner would not tell me what happened. None of the things I asked happened when he owned the car, besides the first paint job and the door hit on the passenger side which was fixed properly. I think sometime after the car is restored I'll take him up on his offer of a free lunch for a ride in Beverly Hills (as part of a road trip). I loved doing road trips in my first 240Z.

Nice. I'm hoping to find few problems, and that my list will contain mostly things I want to do, not need to do. Only time will tell.

That's cool about the F.O. Nice to see a previous owner willing to help, or at least talk to you.

I've owned numerous vehicles, and this P.O. was the worst I've dealt with. No, actually, I'd tie him equal with the P.O. of my first car. Both didn't really want to give up info until I kept asking.

Hey Sparks, Just got back into the Z world myself about a month ago. My 77 is in pretty good shape but have already discovered problems. Next project is re-doing the heater core, heater control valve Etc. Have no mechanical ability but its a rush every time I do something right.
