=Enigma=,

I assume you meant 1977? at any rate, I like the look of the ZZZap-Z. thanks for that link, btw.

Still can't wait to get mine going. Waiting on the fuel pump to arrive...

I've always like the ZZap I've been meaning to ask oifss2 how the paint is on his car besides the rear divers-side fender, and the engine bay how is it? I thought it might be neat if he can repair the paint and restore the interior and keep it original as possible and have a nice car. I tend to be the one that states it is only original once. I would not blame him for getting new vinyls decals made to replace the old ones; even if I was to keep the old ones on for now I'd get a set made for the future. I don't care how much work you do to preserve them they have started to deteriorate and will need replacing in the future. Making a set now will make it easeir to get the colors right in the decals, however I'd fix problems like warning lights first or engine problems and any rust first.

They are commonly referred to as overrider bars or more affectionately, "towel bars", and were sold by companies like Amco and possibly others. I'm not sure if they were available as factory options, or merely dealer installed aftermarket parts.

I suppose they could provide some additional protection since the Z sits so low, however I consider them to be merely cosmetic in nature. I have these on my car and you can view them in the following album. The rear ones are a little more elaborate on the 240-Z:

Ah. OK, see I like how those look compared to mine, but that's just my opinion. I like the way they look on a Z, versus the bars on mine. Oh well. The only other two Z's I've seen in my town don't have them, even though it's the same bumpers/models.

AJ, The Paint is in surprisingly good shape. I scrubbed the engine compartment this weekend and that looks pretty good also. I checked the DMV transfer records and its got 75K orig. The guy really took care of this car. My coolant leak appears as if it might just be hoses (I'm hoping). Zman of Wa. is on the lookout for the brake indicator switch. The Z world is full of great people, Thanks everyone for all the tips.

For now I'm going to take you're advice and refresh vice restore. Going to try to keep it as stock as I can.

When I get it presentable I'll post more pics.

Jim

You could always remove the bars or convert to the pre-73 style bumpers with or without over-rider bars, or go with the clean look of the Euro style front bumper without holes for the bumperettes. I'm still debating on whether I want to remove mine or keep everything the way it is. Making this harder is a freshly plated pre-73 front bumper calling to me from a corner in the garage.

Here's the pics of my Benz, as promise. I've since sold her off, at the time I couldn't afford the repairs. Now I could, but at the time, I couldn't. The only damage done was to the hood, bumper, grille, drivers headlight was finagled a bit (not damaged, just loose), radiator support, and radiator. Everything else was straight.

Wish I could have kept her....
