April 21, 201014 yr comment_316670 Possibly referring to the 'Sports Option' wooden gearknob that was described in-period as the 'Rally' gearknob? They were used on the 510, S30, PA10 and BS110 works rally cars, amongst others. Just a thinner and slightly taller wooden knob, with no logo or shift pattern on it. NISMO made a limited-edition reissue for their 15th Anniversary ( part number 32865-A7610-1 ) which sometimes come up on Yahoo Japan auctions. I've got one on my GP Maroon 240ZG, and one on the 432-R replica project car too. Some people don't like them, as they complain that they 'hurt' the palm of their hand. Here's a pic of an original on a works 240Z rally car: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/34212-what-is-the-hardest-to-find-early-z-car-part/?&page=4#findComment-316670 Share on other sites
April 21, 201014 yr comment_316695 Sorry for the confusion, everyone - I may have inadvertently hijacked this thread with my errant post. The original-style 5 speed knob is indeed for my '69 Z432, but I actually meant "original" to refer to the original thin-knob style, as opposed to the newer-style fat, fake-looking repro knob - I should have made that more clear. I recall seeing a thread about owners using these original-sized 5 speed knobs on their 240 gearbox conversions, so I added it to the list here. (However, it would be correct to say that in this specific case, it would also happen to be correct to the car specification).I will of course also be delighted to find a rally knob per Alan's comments.Back to thread topic - hardest-to-find Z car part! April 21, 201014 yr comment_316698 Here is an obscure one;The profile of the sunvisors on the Series One is different from later production vehicles. So I think this qualifies as a hard to find part.Keith Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/34212-what-is-the-hardest-to-find-early-z-car-part/?&page=4#findComment-316698 Share on other sites
