Ever get the urge to 'lose' the Z?

Every month, when GRM comes, I get this strange feeling after reading it. The feeling lies somewhere between comfort and greed...somewhere between being a stylish original and being a faceless contender. It's the urge to move from the Z into something with better support. Do you know what I mean? All those ads...all those products...all that technology...simple bolt-ons...major plug-and-play modifications, out of the box. CARB-registered street-modified parts. Sometimes I get the urge to buy a little 3-series or maybe even a 944 someone hasn't taken very good care of....

Then I see a picture of a Z and it passes. Besides, Datsun people are the coolest!

Man I dont think so , I have no desire to own a car that I dont understand and need to have a electro cardigram to fix. Been there done that and have the tee shirt! By the way I use to hunt rabbits and quail in your neck of the brush. Gary

Heck I live with that all the time.. My car is a blast, but the poor gas mileage, and other small but nagging issues sometimes make me think I'm out of my mind.. There are several sports cars that could get me into the around 30mpg range, and still be fun to own... A lotus comes to mind.. Your right the 944's are getting cheap also... The biggest problem there is I always had a grudge against those snobbish Porsche drivers.. I'm not sure I could handle being one. But yeah I know what you mean.. I usually cure it by going out and kicking up some hell with my Z... I usually feel better right away..

But most snobby Porche guys (or any other power car for that matter) are dealing with a problem with their manhood -- or lack of. We all drive Zs because they are a true sports car and we love them... and we don't have to compensate for stamina that matches a top-fuel drag car's 1/4 mile time!

Ok Steve, take a deep breath, sit down, put your head between your knees and count to ten. This feeling will go away in just a few minutes.

Don't be ashamed to admit it, with the thousands of minutes of television and radio waves coursing through our atmosphere proclaiming the need to change your vehicle once a year whether you or it needs it or not, it is very understandable that you would eventually become susceptible to the brainwashing. You can and MUST resist the impulse to chuck it all and join the collective masses driving their SUV's and Modernized Antiques. DARE to say NO!

Yes, as a member of the collective you wouldn't have to worry about much, but your individuality would suffer, and finding your car in a crowded parking lot would be but the beginning of your new problems. While your neighbors and ersatz friends may proclaim to be worry and trouble free with their new vehicles, they are in fact lonely and feel part of a hive, that's why they're recruiting you to join them, so you can be miserable together.

Stand tall with your Z. Yes, it takes a bit of commitment on your part, you must be willing to forgo the convenience of instant gratification available with the newer vehicles. It isn't easy, but it IS worthwhile.

Just remember this, when you pull up to a stop light, or park in a parking lot, or just generally driving around, how good do you feel when someone comes up to you and says: "WOW! Is that an Old Jaguar?"

Next time you get the urge to trade the Z in on a plug and play or simple mods, let me know, I'll trade you the latest computer for your Z.. :geek:

I actually don't understand the complaint about poor gas mileage, The last Z I had ('73 240 with '72 carbs) got around 24 miles to the gallon........ Let me tell you that anyone hat says they are doing better than that is either driving an econobox or lieing like hell.

Keep the Z alive or give it to me ROFL

It's Friday and I've had a few

Yes I have.

But wont part with my Z. Yes the plug n play is easy but you can do up A newer car fast and easy with the proper money.

The biggest thing keeping me away from doing a nerwer ride is new cars are made to fall apart. they are trimed with parts that are made of plastic that fall apart or fade out with time.

With the detail shop I see this nonstop every day.

You just cant make them last unless you just park it none the less race one and think its going to make it 10 years.

With my baby shes about 30 now and I feel that with tlc and no wrecks she could run another 30. Oya and I know I wont be looking for a hard to find computer to run my Z.
