Ever get the urge to 'lose' the Z?

We all get the urge sometimes, but its nothing a cold shower won't fix. Yeah, I'm not immune. I usually hate the little ricey Hondas but I saw a CRX the other day that looked good. Maybe because it was not overdone, which is the norm for these cars.

But then I get in my Z and everything is okay again. Yep, I need a completly new suspension and the ball joints are shot. But it runs and gets 22mph which is okay.

Hey, guys! I'm not talking about giving up the Z and buying a Sebring, or Cavalier or minivan! I already have a fambly car (LS400). I'm talking about a toy car...my plaything! And I'm not really talking about going front-wheel drive, either (although there are a couple Mitsubishi products that might do...). I'm sometimes tempted to pick up an old 318 or 25 or 944 or Celica even--HORRORS--a Miata. I have toyed with the idea of a 914, but perhaps that wouyld be proof of a far greater sickness in me than can be handled here.

Then it passes. Seriously thinking aobut selling my car so I can justify starting another Z project. How do you sell a Z, though? What if some total jerk wants it?

I'm 20 and I've owned 4 cars already. 3 of which were Zeds, I was tempted to own a Celica a Commodore and heaps of other cheap crappy cars due to friends putting pressure on you and having a car written off and thinking I'd get something cheaper I bought a Toyota Corolla SX so I could save money on fuel but it balanced out on expenses like CV's, Exhaust system, brakes etc. list goes on. The newer cars are built cheaply as you can imagine if they save just $10 on 1 car and make a 3000 cars they save $30,000 Dollars so cutting costs is a big thing for car companies.

It's tempting to get into nice new cars with bolt on mods fuel injection and all the other candy but it's also expensive and I don't know about you guys but when I fix a problem on my car I'm very proud and since these cars are so easy to work on it's even better.

Everywhere I drive my Z I get people staring at it. Just last night I had 3 people in a Taxi ask me a million questions and tell me they really like it. Then I had another clown in the city trying to lure me into his game and run his car not that I did I know I would spank a 4 cylinder 2.0L engine with my cammed 6 that sounds like sex at 5,500rpm. Besides my girlfriend wouldn't let me ROFL . I suggest you drive one of these cars you would like to own take a few for a test drive you'll get back in your Z and go what was I thinking???? I know cause I've done it.

>>>>Sell the family car and buy TWO toy cars.

Ahhh...that settles it then! What a great idea! What could I get for 30K? Let's see:

A bad 914 and a good 3.0 911 motor and transaxle and a set of wheels and tires and have 10 or so left over for suspension and interior...

Or a abused 944 and spend 5 on the engine and 5 on the suspension and have 10 left over for ???

Or a cherry 911 and have 5 left over for speed parts...

Or 5 old Miatas...

Or 15 Z's and have 10 left over for new parts and the lot to store them all on...

But what would my wife drive?

BTW, Enrique, THAT set a new world's record as your shortest response. Ever.

The only other cars I would even be remotely interested in are an Austin Healy 3000, lancia aurelia, Jag 120 or 140 series, or a Volvo P1800.

If I had the loot, I'd be all over a 71 Miura, 246 Dino, or GTB 250.

Actually in the 18,000 range you could be sitting pretty in a 308 GTI.

You will never catch me dead in some farty exhausted 4 cylindar with ground effects and so low to the ground that running over an ant could cause a flat tire!

Sorry if I offended the farty exhaust community.
