I have been working on this one for a while! After admiring all of the rest of the fine paint jobs that everyone has shared, I though that I should get some recent pics of mine. I just want to get my hands on it to begin re-assembly!

Notice the "Shaved" antenna! New antenna is going incognito!

Wow, that looks really beautiful. Thats a really nice color too! I wish I had thought of the shaving the antenna. I probably will only put one on to fill the hole. I really like the idea of the retrosound unit. I echo your feelings on wanting to get it back and working.

<sobbing quietly> Its got paint on it! I can't believe it. Its finally painted!!! :D I got the pictures today and I'm so happy. I almost burst into tears at work this morning when I opened the email. Its been a year and finally its almost done. I absolutely love the color. Its a GM blue. Some of the pictures look kind of purplish but that is just the lighting. I got nothing accomplished at work and spent the time looking at the pictures and crying happy tears all over the computer. I was planning on driving to Kentucky were the car is but we are supposed to get a bunch of snow so I will probably wait until another weekend. There is still more work to be done but its finally looking like a proper car and the end it so near. I am trying to decide on the interior color. The car originally had a butterscotch interior and I think that could look nice with the blue. What do you guys think?

carl (I just can't believe its been painted <sob>

Hey Carl,

I know how you feel!! There's nothing like it.

Your car looks stunning! Awesome! Gorgeous!

I love butterscotch and ginger interiors, but with that deep blue color I'm partial to either black or off-white as Bonzi Lon mentioned. Grey would be very nice too.

Enjoy the ride!

Hey Andrew,

Unfortunately those are the only pictures I have at the moment. The car is currently in Kentucky. I will be going to visit the car not this weekend but the next (10 days). I will take pictures then. I would love to get it out in the sun to see how it looks with direct light.

Well, 4 years after I bought my Z and joined this forum, I finally sent my Z away to get repainted. After much pondering over what color to paint her, I decided that I just could not change the color from the original stock 919 Yellow! I worked out a deal with a local collision shop that I would strip the car down to the axles, and they would do the body work and painting.

I just got the car back on December 31st. Here is a brief photo history of the car:

Snarty, nice job! Keep going, your Z will look great!

Your pics are very reminiscent of my own 2 year restoration of my 240Z, especially the hours sitting in the engine bay sanding down to bare metal.

The Z Car Club of Rochester would love to have you join us for our BIG Z weekend in July. See the details here:

http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36595

Also, check out my restoration pics in the gallery of ZCCR's website at www.zccr.net. Enjoy your process, it will be most rewarding!

Good luck!
