DHM Car Show and Swap Meet

Anybody planning on going to this? I'll be there. Was debating on which Z to take. Will most likely take the 70 only 'cause it needs to be taken out for a run. She's getting a little antsy.

Hopefully I can pick up a nice drivers side fender there for my 71Z. My current one has a rust hole in the base (bondo'd now) and I'd like to replace before painting. Plan is to paint the 71 Z similar to the color shown on the Z below.

The car show is people's choice (which I hate:sick:). Nice event to socialize at though. Good way to start 2010.

What a great outing of enthusiasts, had a great time with Fred and his wife! I must admit that I was hesitant to go at first, but change my mind; good thing consiring I only had to drive a few miles compared to a couple who drove from Sacramento!

The turn out was great. It was nice to socialize with all of the Datsun fans there. One of the best aspects of the show was the Datsun parts swap meet. What a great selection. I picked up a set of Series I chrome bumpers in great shape, complete with rubber for $300 total. Incredible deal-couldn't pass them up. Will post picks of them tonight.

And here are the bumpers. Quite nice for $300.

Now if I could just get the paint job for that price LOL

Very nice - and to keep them that way - clean the inside of them - then mask them off - and paint the inside with a coat of POR-15 in the light gray. When that sets up and gets tacky - spray a coat of shinny silver over the top. That will prevent them from rusting from the inside out....

FWIW,

Carl B.

Great idea. I'll probably do black instead of silver, but killing the rust rot is key.

Rich,

When did you buy those? I didn't see you with them all day. Nice purchase and they look great on the "spare" Z. BTW, paint it green!

I think the guy who had them came a bit late to the swap meet, so they were there a bit later in the day. Ron Carter pointed them out to me. This was much cheaper than re-chroming the blacked out ones on my 71

Thanks for the tip there Carl. I will definitely do that when I pull them off again to paint the car at the end of February.
