Tail lights

Prior to today, my tail lights were working. I have Dave's front turn signal harness. Love it to Death, as Alice Cooper would say. I went to install Dave's Parking light/instrument light upgrade. I followed the directions. As soon as I installed it I blew the 15a inline fuse. Also the tail light fuse. Then no tail lights. I took it out of the circuit. Still blowing tl fuse. So I pull out the multi meter. Got a circuit from the fusebox screw to the left fuse holder on the TL fuse. Then I pulled the large connector apart under the steering wheel (this is the one that Daves mod plugs into). I have continuity from the same aforementioned screw to the green/white wire. This is not a problem with Dave's product, rather something that I did. So there must be a short between the two? Does this wire go directly from the connector to the fuse box? Dave any ideas oh electrical guru?

Any ideas? May I have pulled something loose from under the dash? Thanks in advance!

I have brake, stop and turn signal lights.

The Parking light circuit, that the PLH helps, consists of the front markers, all 4 sidemarkers, dash lights and the taillights. Basically, Everything that normally comes on with the first click of the combo switch. So that explains the dash, tail and front lights.

Disconnect the combo switch and reinsert the fuse. If it blows, then the problem is between the fusebox and the connector for the combo switch. Short line and easily traced.

If the fuse does not blow, then the problem is obviously elsewhere. Disconnect the Front markers (3-wire connector in front of the radiator) and try the fuse again, with the combo switch plugged in. If the fuse does not blow (with the combo switch plugged in and the front markers unplugged) the problem is now narrowed down to the front markers. Start checking for grounded wires, bad bulbs or sockets. or maybe a inproperly installed SCP.

Try those few things and report back.

Dave. I did exactly as you advised. I was able to narrow it down to the left front marker light. It was shorting out. Thanks. There really is a striking increase it light output on all four corners and a noticeable increase in the ever so dim dash lights. Appreciate your help with this.
