Hello there,

Just wanted to introduce myself to everyone.. I am a new Z owner in the Bay Area (Cupertino). I have had my car since November 1 and already introduced myself on hybridz.org but I thought it'd be cool to get to know some folks here.

I bought HLS30-005889, an Early 1971 Series I, in Glendale, CA (blue plate original CA car) from the second owner. Made the 5 hours drive down south and managed to pick this beauty up.

The color is 903 Dark Blue, and from what I've gathered... the only modifications at the time of purchase were an 70

's Escort Cruise Control, AC, MSD Electronic Ignition, and 280Z 5 spd transmission. Unfortunately the engine codes don't match, which works out because I plan to put a L28ET in...

When I bought the car, for some reason the old owner replaced the hatch and C pillar emblems so that the car would look like a Series II (emblems and vents). So I am in the process of bringing it back to its former self.

So far I've added new Tokico Springs/Shocks with Energy Bump Stops, a Xenon Front Air Dam and Endlink bushings, and a 280ZX alternator. Most of my time has been dedicated to cleaning it up, even though it was extremely clean from the beginning. I have a AZC front disc brake kit, full energy bushing kit, and rota rb-r wheels, ready to go in asap.

Every modification I do will be 100% reversable, as I know low VIN Z's are hard to come by.

Anyways.. it's gonna be nice to meet some new people! ROFL

Hi, Oakland here, Mark we spoke before. I met with John and he told me about the shop you go to. Hey it seems like there are a few of us in the East Bay. we should try to get together.

Jim

Hi Jim, I was just at John's today, we were doing a carb balance on his 240. It makes me want a Rebello :D

I think a get together is a great idea! I just need for Summit to send me my new header gasket :stupid:

My friend runs Performance Options in Oakland near the West Oakland Bart station. They are into all things old school and high performance. I was working on my car there the day met oifss2 with another member here, John. Actually they are still working on wiring for a customer's 280 with an RB25det swap. Another project in there now is an AE86 getting an SR swap. Pretty cool place.

If 1stGenCelica didn't require reg to view threads I would link to their Friday east bay meet at the end of this month. One of the mods there has a bunch of 510 buddies too they are all into Japanese old school
