Posted January 18, 201015 yr comment_306525 hi all im new to the forums and only recently became interested in the 240z after seeing one on the road. i don't know to much information about it but i do know the specs of the 240z and the 280z and have been able to find out enough information about them through this forum to choose a 240z as my preference. so i have decided to buy one in a couple of years but i would like to know as much info as possible beforehand. i was wondering what the fuel consumption is like on a stock 240z in good condition and what it would be like as a daily drive. also is there any other really important information i should know about before buying one?by the way im living in australia so any prices or figures would be good in metric and australian dollors if possible Edited January 18, 201015 yr by pyrophoricity left out some info Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/34448-questions-about-a-240z/ Share on other sites

January 18, 201015 yr comment_306535 by the way im living in australia so any prices or figures would be good in metric and australian dollors if possible21 miles per gallon, very good daily driver, rust is your #1 enemyI guess that would work out to about 9 Km/L. My 280Z actually averaged a bit better than that at 24 mpg or a little over 10 Km/L. I'm sure you're already aware of the rust issues. January 18, 201015 yr comment_306541 I can encourage you by saying in a couple of years fuel economy won't be your concern ! I'd say a decent 240zwon't be available . Get one now , or go with a newer carthat has much better safety , no rust , and parts are cheap. January 18, 201015 yr comment_306556 i had the bodywork and paint done on my car in 1999, now 11 years later, i am getting ready to replace passenger door, and repair right side wheel arch and dogleg because of rust coming back through. mine is a daily driver that sees rain. January 18, 201015 yr comment_306568 im just worried about the fuel economy because if it is going to be expensive to run then i will keep it as a weekend driver. so is 21 mpg good fuel economy? It's definitely not as good as the newer 4 cylinders cars but you aren't buying it for that reason. As mentioned, it might be comparable to approximately 8-9L/100km. Adding to that you might want to use premium fuel and it will cost you more than your average Civic or Corolla. My thoughts have always been this: If I can't afford to fill it, I shouldn't own it.My .02 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/34448-questions-about-a-240z/#findComment-306568 Share on other sites
