Posted January 26, 201015 yr comment_307518 Just replaced the timing chain and now the engine will not start, it turns over fine and pops, but will start. Any thoughts?76 280Z Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/34552-engine-will-not-start/ Share on other sites
January 26, 201015 yr comment_307543 First thing to check is the timing. If you were off by 1 notch when you installed the new chain, it won't run right. Have you double (and triple) checked to make sure your initial ignition timing is right? Turning over and popping sound like timing to me. January 28, 201015 yr comment_307707 If ALL you touched was the chain ,then you have the timing out.One or two teeth is all it needs to do that. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/34552-engine-will-not-start/#findComment-307707 Share on other sites
February 1, 201015 yr Author comment_308131 The timing was off by 1 notch, now she runs good, but I have 2 issues.I timed her to the manual and she has a small miss. After I have driven her for a while and shut her off, and then go to restart her after only a few mins, the engine runs rough for a few second and then smoths out.Any ideas? Thanks Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/34552-engine-will-not-start/#findComment-308131 Share on other sites
