Hello everyone!

I have been lurking around here for a while now and finally decided to join up! I have been a huge fan of the Nissan Z cars for as long as I can remember, but it wasn't until about a year ago that I 'discovered' the original line of Z cars. (240, 260 and 280.)

I casually browsed through local ads for the better part of 2009 looking for a Z to no avail. I knew they existed in the US, but it would be a big hassle to get one all the way to Sweden. After moving to England for studies, I continued my search until one day randomly stumbling upon a 240Z in Surrey. The picture immediately identified it as a basket case, but I decided to head down and have a look anyway, if anything just to see the car in the flesh, and if it was anything as good as the pictures make it out to be. After all, I'm far smarter than to buy a car that is obviously beyond repair... right?

Long story short, the next day I made him an offer and bought it. I couldn't stand the thought of the car being sold as spares, junked, or recycled for scrap metal. The thing had already been standing for 20 years as it was.

Currently I am waiting for the V5C (Certificate of Registration) to come back, and I'll transport it back to Sweden until spring where I can begin tearing it down to identify with certainty if the body can be saved or not.

I am probably clinically insane, but I'd rather give the car a shot at life, however slim the chances, than to see it junked. In any case, here's a few pictures. Please try not to be too hard on me once you see the state of it - there is some reason to my lunacy... or rather there will be, once I find one! :nervous: These are taken where the car stood, I'll take some more once I haul it to Sweden. Sorry about the poor quality, they were taken with a mobile phone.

I know the chance of salvaging this Z is slim - in all likelihood it needs a re-shell, but I might have a lead on a shell to use in saving this one. I have experience restoring old cars, but I have never seen rust on this level before.

I cant really say for sure until the car has been disassembled.

Go over to hybridz site and check out "mull" 's build. His was probably in worse shape.

You definitely need some luck, skills, patience, and a butt-load of parts. Be sure to post progress pictures!

Mull was my first thought as well. He's also member here and coincidentally lives in Sweden. As far as I know he currently holds the record for resurrecting the car that started out in the worst possible condition. He created an entire thread here of his progress with lots of incredible videos of his work.

Thanks for the link! I've had a look at his restoration before and I remember feeling genuine dread when I saw the state of his car after sandblasting. His floors had also been replaced with fibreglass I think?

He's a very brave man for attempting it. But hey, at least he still had wheel arches.

I am from Malmö, the very south of Sweden. Roughly 30 minute drive to get to Copenhagen from my door!

Yep! It's a 260Z 2+2, he was originally selling it with the 240Z but I have no chance of shipping two cars to Sweden, so I bought the 240 on its own.

Saw this advertized here in the UK, seller was after silly money for the 240z and the 260z 2 by 2. Hope you paid very little for it. Good luck
