February 4, 201015 yr comment_308514 I'm not worried, my cars pass smog. The ones I had in the past and the ones I have now. I live in California that's just another one of the 'fun' parts of living here. I've seen the smog checks though I've never been through one. There was one a few months back set up in front of the park less than a block from me. Like they say, it is what it is. February 4, 201015 yr Author comment_308522 So a better question then is what year did cars in general start coming with smog equipment? The 1970 Z is the only z without smog parts right? Would guess a 57 Chevy shouldn't worry.I knew I should have held out for a '72 when I bought my current one. But it was just so nice I had to forgive it for being a '73. The '72 smog equipment was so minimal compared to the '73.Guess I could always look into what it takes to get the okay to run a '78 setup in it (should have kept my old 280, it always passed smog) or another newer engine....Seeing the checkpoint was just another kick in the shins after the day before finding the Highway patrol sitting along my favorite winding levy road that was the fun 3rd gear separation between the phases of my day. Fortunately I was also in the pickup then and going slower but it was still was a fun uncrowded road prior to that.
