Buying Celica GT ANSA parts!

In regards to another car I, well, regard; I happened upon some NOS Ansa tail pipes for a 1975 Toyota Celica 2000GT! For those not aware thats the first year they had the 20R motor and power bulge hood. Essentialy the first true year of the "Celica" 2000GT. Will post pics when arrive. Knowing me I tried to talk myself out of it, but couldn't do it . Now all I have to do is buy a Celica or find someone who already has one .

My bad, let me clarify. Not the ultra rare 2000GT fast back sports car look alike to the 240Z. But instead the "Celica 2000GT" which I believe started out as a Celica 1600GT when that car first came out in the year 1970. Not sure when they started badging the Celica GT with the 2000GT emblems though.

The early Celica's are good looking cars and nobody knows what they are outside of the old school crowd. I think a lot of the AE86 parts will bolt on with minimal work

Sweet Andy ! Yeah those guys are cool, they love their cars as much as we love our Z's. Joined the group 4th Gen Celica a few years ago after buying a NOS gt grille emblem, you know the one with the little red dragon on it, from a ex dealership guy in Texas. Fell in love with the thing and went looking for more information, thats when I really took to the car. All this after I had my Z though . Didn't know the badge would create such a buzz! Also got some NOS Crown and Creseda emblems from the guy too. Theres a couple Celica GT's in town, a White one with Red stripes near my house and a 70's color Orange Yellow one on other side of town that turns up once in a awhile. Have yet to line up against one in the Z though

It really depends on what's under the hood. One of the guys I know has an 18RG and I blew right by him on the Altamont but another friend has an F20C from an S2000 and he'll smoke me like I'm standing still. One of the other guys has a 22RET and that thing is pretty fast. 22RE swap is pretty common on those. It's way more power than the 4A or even 20R, and it's rock solid reliable

big fan of the celicas. Back when i ran a 510 with double 45 webers celicas were the real competition for us 4 cylinder datsuns. used to race them all the time. Was about to swap my 510 for a real nice 76 celica but i ran the 510 into a telephone pole and that ended that.

Both Celica ANSA's arrived today and just two hours right after my 2nd Rally Calendar Clock! The Ansa's look great, just some small pitting on the chrome and need of new Red Shield logos but they'll polish out great for a daily driver. Were sitting on a storage shelf for like 25 or 30 years! Will check tomorrow to see if they'll retro fit on a Z. Good thing I happened to take my stock muffler off earlier today already, since I'm back to prototyping a new Twin Stack Ansa for the Z with measurements took to blueprint the originals . Wow so Toyota never really made a direct challanger to the Z then? Unless they were made to battle the S20 motor. They just look to be born enemies. And Langford how'd you wrap your 510?

Can anyone recommended a good quality high heat paint? Finished cleaning up one Ansa now going to give a shot at repainting the inside of the pipes like brand new. Heading to Kragen Autoparts tomorrow and they said they got some at 6 to $10 a bottle. Might in to Auto Wood instead but don't know what brands are better than others.

These things look SiC on a Z! . I just did a mock up on my 280z just to see what it looks like and if a retro fit was even possible and took pics with my camera and camera phone. It wouldn't take much at all for a muffler shop to fab a new hanger bracket and have the 1.75 inch inlet meet up with the rest of the Z's exhaust line. The inlet pipe can be cut off and replaced with a 2 inch pipe for later Z's such as my 280. It pretty much fits perfectly in the stock mufflers' location! Well if anyone has a phone that can accept picture text and would like to see how they turned out then you can text me at 5307011244 and I'll send you the pics. Or wait till Tuesday when I can load them up to a PC .

When I painted my header, I used VHT flame proof header paint in flat black. I think it's rated to 2000 degrees? There is a curing process that can be done on the car or off the car in an oven. Oven is hard to do with a i6 header but you might be able to do it with a tail pipe. I would not do this with my kitchen oven by the way

The VHT paint has a nice spray tip too
