My guess would be a mfg. date at the very end of 1970 or early 1971, likely sold as a 1971.

If the data plate is still on the car, the date of mfg. should be noted there.

Welcome to another Pennsylvania resident!! I'm just an hour or two down from you in Millersburg.....

I looked up the Z Car Home Registry, and car hls3018124 was manufactured in 12/70, so I would guess that is the manuf. date of your car. This is Carl Beck's web site

www.zhome.com. Look under zcar registers.

A. Bjeres 1971 HLS30-18490 L24 #P30-19041 04-71

these dates and HLS30 # are from the spread sheet attached.

there are some strange HLS30 numbers on the sheet for that time period, could be a lot of mistakes.

Carl , you mean 10/70 ? :) or 01/71 QUOTE]

#18147 should be a 1/71 build.

My records show the earliest 1/71 I have seen is #17475.

The latest 1/71 I have seen is #20425.

So I would estimate #18147 was built about the 2nd week of 1/71.

There is a slim possibility that it could be a 12/70 car because I show

#17925 as a 12/70, obviously later than the earliest, #17475. Carl

addresses the reasons for this elsewhere, including ZHome.com.

In any case it is nice to know of another surviving Series 1 Z.

thanks for all your help. my door production date says 12/70. sold as a 71. thanks again. timsz. i had the same year car 35 years ago. i was young and so dumb and sold it.

I noticed on the registry that a lot of build dates as late in the year as december were being counted as that model year, not the next year. If I have a build date of 9/77, and I've been told and thought for years that my car was a 78, is that accurate? How does that work?

Being as your car is dated 09/77 it was probably shipped to the US and sold and titled as a 78 in late October or November, possibly later.

Hope that helps.
