I recently posted an old car my mom wants to sell on Craig's List, i was told by a friend to be careful of some of the responses you get. I have gotten a few asking me to click on URLs to view cars to insure my car is what they want ?? offering me more money than i am asking, telling me my car is worth more to check out some web site too good of a deal ???. Has anyone had trouble selling or buying on Craig's List ?

Oh yeah. There are TON's of scammers out there. I would never click on a URL. If someone is serious about buying your car, they will call you (if you have a phone number listed), or at least ask you the RIGHT questions. The internet has useful purposes BUT it also is an open door to dishonest folks.

I have both bought and sold vehicles on Craigslist. I find what works best is a phone number. Typically if someone calls you it's pretty legit. I always call them if they leave a number on the ad. The only problem is that you get the occasional car selling company that wants to low ball you or someone that wants to trade you tatoos for your vehicle. Private parties typically work best. Cash Only. Be careful with non-craiglist e-mail addresses.
