Posted February 14, 201015 yr comment_309642 I got my 240z running with the pretty brand new 36000 original miles l28. So the thing isn't licensed at all and I'm a junior in high school who still hasn't bothered to get his license yet. I took a real chance but I had to do it. I gave my friends rides around my neighborhood and the thing is really out of tune so it eats up gas so fast. by the like fourth time driving a friend around the car just stops and I keep trying to start it and it goes for like a sec then stops. I got it to the bottom of my street and then the battery was dead from trying to start it too much. Well thank god I've got great friends who are willing to push it up a good sized hill. Totally worth it. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/34758-fun-pushing/ Share on other sites
February 14, 201015 yr comment_309659 Well, maybe someone trying to tell you something. If you can drive the car on private property, great, but it won't be worth it if you get caught (no reg, no insurance, and oh yeah, no license) on public streets. It could end up delaying when you are allowed to drive legally.Re the car, I'd try leaning out the carbs, and checking the float bowl settings. You don't want to wash out the rings. Also, if the car has been sitting it could be that the fuel float in the tank is sticking, providing a false reading that is too high?Do you know how much fuel from empty that you put in the tank? Seriously Dennis. Can't Help Sh it.... Where did that come from? and why? I think Denis meant the original poster is only 17 and that's waaaaaaaay to young to be messing around with cars. But seriously I haven't a clue why he posted that, probably a "Dang kids and their shenanigans" sort of thing. February 14, 201015 yr comment_309674 CPS..... Seriously Dennis. Can't Help Sh it....Where did that come from? and why?Unfortunately, every day I work with kids who do similar things and I see where one "innocent" act often leads to less innocent actions that result in property damage/destruction or bodily injury. The situations can generally be traced back to lack of parent involvement. The referenced link explains child endangerment and neglect - parental attitudes that tend to result in unlicensed teens driving uninsured, and possibly unsafe, cars on public streets.PM me if you haven't had a friend killed by an unlicensed uninsured driver. I'll tell you about mine.Dennis Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/34758-fun-pushing/#findComment-309674 Share on other sites
February 14, 201015 yr comment_309681 I understand your comments, but on the other side of the coin..... I've seen CPS do more harm than good. Kids taken out of Homes that had NO problems, merely because the neighbor had an issue with the parents. So she calls CPS, makes some BS story and the innocent kids get thrown in a foster home for a month because of some idiot abusing the priveledge.Meanwhile, the real victims are ignored because CPS is paying attension to the Unneeded calls. It's all pretty stupid cause people can't use their brains. They look the other way and call for the wrong reasons. CPS is just doing their job but it's the citizens who give CPS a bad name.Anyways, "thank god we've got great friends who are willing to push it up a good sized hill. Totally worth it."Dave Edited February 14, 201015 yr by Zs-ondabrain Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/34758-fun-pushing/#findComment-309681 Share on other sites
February 14, 201015 yr Author comment_309683 Yeah but cmon. I had too. besides i went down two blocks. with my neighbor in the car. and the area i live in is unincorporated meaning only the sheriff has jurisdiction there and he never comes cause its like a 3 block deal. I only went 30 mph anyways. My dad didn't care at all. I'm sure if u were in my situation you would do the same thing. and don't say you wouldn't unless you were a goody two shoes in high school Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/34758-fun-pushing/#findComment-309683 Share on other sites

February 15, 201015 yr comment_309708 Good friends do come in handy so for that remember what Psdenno said . Agree with thought on your carbs Tophu. Drove my new enging out of tune for the first 1,200 miles and it's my experience the longer you drive a car out of tune the worst it gets. Which problely explains why yours finally cut out. Once you do figure out your average mpg always fill up when you figure your down to 5 gals cause the low warning light may not came on. Or run the risk of pushing up a bigger hill from farther away . And Psdenno I feel the same way, I had a very good friend of mine too who I've known for ten years fall asleep at the wheel on his way home. Hit a telephone pole, rolled three times and came to a stop upside down in the middle of the highway. They said he died instantly and thankfully he didn't take anyone else with him. You think it'll never happen to you or someone you know but to loose a person in such a senseless way always feels empty. Truthfully He'd rather died playing beer pong Edited February 15, 201015 yr by WingZr0 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/34758-fun-pushing/#findComment-309708 Share on other sites
February 22, 201015 yr comment_310321 I wonder what the crime rate is like in Tophu's area? I realize that those are only mis-demeanor offenses, but those are often stepping stones to later felonies. That Z would make a nice addition to the impound yard around here. Every week inour local paper in a community of about 8000 is a pretty good sized list of summonsesissued for offenses like Tophu himself described. Frankly, I'm glad we have tough law enforcement here. It minimizes the degree ofdanger to myself, my family, my puppy, my Zs, and everyone else. When I was thatage I governed my actions by being concerned with the possibility of being confrontedby a police officer; but knowing that that would be nothing compared to beingconfronted by Dad (rest his soul) when I got home!!!I'm proud of our two girls for being good, law abiding citizens and for teaching theirkids to be that way as well.
