Rick, let it go. If the kid want's to rationalize his irresponsibilities there isn't anything anyone can say that would change his mind. For him to answer Dennis' response with sarcasm just further displays that immaturity. This just leads to polarization on an issue that really doesn't have a 'pro' side and leads to unnecessary sidebars about things like the CPS. Best thing to do would be let it drop. You seem to enjoy opening up these old threads. Some of them need the be left alone.

Yeah pretty much. and btw the area i live in is Lake Oswego. It is one of the safest places to live in the world. most of the people who live here except for a few exceptions have a couple $100,000+ cars. there is virtually no crime where i live. It's come to a point where seeing a ferrari 430 or any type of maserati barely grabs your attention. I don't think driving a car without a license is a good thing but seriously some of you are taking this way to far. I took it around the block.

Take it easy with the car when you have it tuned well it has some go. This isn't the best first time car it can get you in to trouble. Just take it easy and if you can take the test take it and get it over with. Just remember these cars look fast and people think they are going faster than they are, your young the cops will pull you over even more. If your smart you would trade for a 510 or something that doesn't look as fast until your in your late 20's. Their are a lot of great cars with speed that don't look fast like a Mazda 323 GTX or 82-86 200SX . . . I had a 84 200sx that I modified it was a blast

Yeah i waited for my license so i could get it with the car finished and put me as the main person on the insurance for the car. I think i wiil stick with the Z i do like the 510 but naw.yeah LO is known for pulling over minorities and kids for bad reasons. But i'm not someone who speeds. My dad was always a good driver and was an instructor for a couple years so i leaned pretty well. and I've never driven an auto in my life so i'm very good with the clutch. so no probs there. But yeah I will definately be careful in that car cause one slip and it could be my life.my best friends bro died who was like my bro in a car crash like 2 years ago. and that was in a newer suv. If i crash in this thing there are no air bags and the thing is not made very well for car crashes. I think i'll be ok though. Oh yeah and to answer your question WingZr0. On the z car club i'm in the event calender has a thing that says hot rod meet or something that is every month. I think there is a car meet thing at PIR fairly often as well.

I'd recommend learning how to work on the carbs and how to adjust the valves. These are two things that mechanics seem to have a hard time doing. I hope you got the factory service manuals, and microfiche of the parts, these are great resources to how the car works so you can do repairs. I'd recommend cleaning the carbs out the fuel lines and the fuel tank. Untill you are driving it regularly keep at-least one fuel filter on hand, when the gas goes bad you will plug the filter up quick, and see what color it is if it goes rusty red drop the tank and get it clean.

Another great trick to keep fuel problems down is straight weight non-detergent oil in the fuel tank. Ad a quart every oil change and you won't have rust in the tank. How I do it is add when the tank is haft full. Then drive it down a quarter of a tank you want it to slosh around the tank so take some corners. Then fill it up. Also don't store the car without a full tank air is your enemy hear. If you are close to any Z guys in your area get to know them well buy them some Coke and help on what ever car they are working on you can learn a lot about these cars from them.

Good luck

I got a new fuel filter and before I got the car the original owner had cleaned the fuel tank and got it all redone. When i checked the fuel when we got it was clean. I also have like 2 manuals for the car. I'll eventually learn how to do everything for the car it will just take some time. I've actually been in the z car club here in Oregon for almost half a year or so and the l28 i have in my z i bought from the z club president.

Just make sure one is the factory book the Haynes and Chilton are not that good. It is good that the tank is clean, I'd clean the carbs and line again so make sure they havent glazed over with bad gas. If you want to learn how to work on the carbs Z therapy has a video.

How long till you get all tagged and licensed? My first car was a 62 Mercury Comet. At least it was a two door:) Great first car you got there... Nice seats, need to hide those stereo wires;)
