Posted February 21, 201015 yr comment_310251 Hey guysLast night it rained out here in Tucson. I took the Z over to a friends house and while driving I noticed that there was a nice steady drip coming from the rear of the car. After some examination I'm pretty positive that the water is coming from the rear glass gasket on the rear right corner. Secondly this morning when I turned on the rear defogger only about two of the lines work. (its been like this since I bought the car).So what exactly should I do here? What are my options window wise and what should be done about the rear defogger? February 21, 201015 yr comment_310254 You can repair the metal tabs with this....http://www.autobarn.net/per21351.htmlor even better..........http://www.amazon.com/Permatex-15067-Window-Defogger-Repair/dp/B000HBI9YQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1266775398&sr=8-1It might be time for a new rear window seal. But you can also have your local glass company seal it up for a small fee. They would likely remove the window, clean the channel and the hatch lip, load the channels with a small amount of glass sealer and reinstal.Dave Edited February 21, 201015 yr by Zs-ondabrain Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/34825-rear-glass-issues/#findComment-310254 Share on other sites
February 21, 201015 yr comment_310286 If your leak is coming from the glass to rubber seal, there is a liquid silicone available for just that problem. It comes in a tooth paste tube size. If your gasket is still soft. The glass shop can inject a sealent under the rubber to paint area. If the gasket is old .... not likely. As for the defroster lines they can be repaired and there are kits for doing this. So far I haven't seen one of these used to my satisfaction. I don't have the patience and just disconnected mine and used the light on the console for a indicator showing my fog lights are on.
