R/T differential mount

I finally got around to installing my RT differential mount this weekend. I got it from Brad (roostmonkey) over at hybridZ. Brad fabricated a bunch in his shop in MA out of heavy plate (+/- 3/16"), and it uses an Energy Suspension GM tranny mount. Very good quality. Unfortunately, I think I got one of the last few that he had.

I just gotta say, I am very impressed with this upgrade. I can't wait to feel how much crisper the car accelerates and shifts with all of the slop taken out of the driveshaft. Even with a brand new Nissan differential mount and a good arrestor strap, I couldn't believe how much the nose of the differential could move (just by hand) with the original design. It must have been jumping all over when I launched, and shifted hard. That movement of the differential had to steal a lot of torque that should've been getting to the rear wheels.

I'll post a few pics of the conversion when I get home. It went pretty smoothly, and took about 2 - 3 hours (I took my time). If anyone can talk Brad into fabricating another run of these things, they are well worth the money.

Been covered, a lot, in the last few months. Great upgrade and praised by many. I made a run of 50 and they sold pretty damn fast. Mine has a notch in the corner for the fuel lines and Roostmonkey's didn't, only real difference.

installed mine today...used bump stop on my 78 280.removed 1/4 off of stop.

little different to a 240z..my z does feel more solid between shifts..the only thing i did notice,(maybe just me) a little nvh???

ps i am curious would this have to removed to replace muctache bar bushing..seems to have put more tension on eveything..

Nope, just leave the R/T in, drop the crossmember with diff attached, unbolt the 2 nuts holding the diff to the mustache bar, slide the diff forward and out of the way of the bar and drop it down to do the bushings. Repeat steps in reverse for an easy instal. Done.

Anybody out there in Z land still have their R/T mount not installed yet...Looking for the measurement for the hole on the top from the right edge (see attachment) and the center to center measurement of the three holes on the side (see attachment)

Mine is from the recent group buy. The top hole is 11mmX17mm oval, 67mm from the right edge (drawing) to center, up 50mm from the bottom edge to center. The 3 side holes are also 11X17mm, center is 12.5mm from the bottom, centers from left edge are 13mm, 44.5mm, 76mm. Hope this helps.

Got some folks currently working on a Solidworks drawing for the R/T mount as we speak...so I can take it by the metal shop for them to make reference to...etc...etc. One more question...when you say "50mm from the bottom edge"...you are making reference to what would be considered the rear of the mount (where the plate is welded in on the bottom)

Thats right, set up like the drawing. The 'bottom edge' has the welded in support.

I just noticed the drawings are in SAE. :stupid: My measurments should of been also, sorry.

The width measurements appear to be missing on the drawings, or I can't see them . The overall width is 3", except for the ears with 3 holes, it is 3 1/2" wide, 1" tall.

I've already got people asking me for R/T Mounts. Most likely due to the revival of this thread. So when and if you start a batch, let me know so I can redirect them in the right direction.
