Golden Gardens, Seattle, 2010?

Yeah, I was planning to go last night, but the combination of the 99% tuner crowd, lack of parking, and rain kept me away again. I have always been surprised that the Seattle area really doesn't have any decent shows. The ZCCW has an annual show at the Nissan dealer that sponsors the club in the summer, but it is in the dealer's parking lot, so a horrible venue for a get together. We need something like the Vancouver BC show that they have at a park north of the city in Sept. I go to that most years and it is always a nice event. I would love a Datsun only show in the greater Seattle/Tacoma area. Dave, why not have it later in the spring/summer? The weather at the end of March is usually pretty poor.

Only problem with a Seattle area Datsun only meet is finding a place to have it. To be honest I think Golden Gardens would make a great place for one when the weather gets better. We wouldn't need to rent anywhere and parking is plentiful if no one tips off the tunner crowd about it. A mid spring early summer meet there would be pretty sweet.

way too many Turbo Blow-offs (no offence Tyler, I know you love the PSSSSST!!

You know you like that sound too. (just when it comes out of a Datsun though) It was sort of funny watching everyone get over those speed bumps though ROFL There was a pretty sweet 240sx that was converted into an electric car in the second parking lot.

Also here's a Datsun forum with pics (more Datsuns in these pics and a video)

Dave made it into a few; me being a football field away made into none  (also having a primered car doesn't entice people into taking pictures)

That's what I'm looking for Mike. I'll take any suggestions you got. So keep an eye out for possible venues, parks, stadium parking lot, etc, etc. Maybe even a MAY date??

Don't want it too close to the Canby date

Tacoma area would make it more attendable by those coming from Southern Washington or the Oregon area, and not too far for us northen cities.

But not aposed to Northern Seattle to also apease the Canadian crowd.

Up for suggestions.

Dave

Mike,

There is just such a show, it's called DATSUN Driving Canby Fun. Okay, so it's in far south Tacoma but you'll get your DATSUN fix in all variants. www.datsunsnw.org

To me, looking at the NISSAN vehicle pictures is about as exciting as driving to the grocery store. Sorry, tuners.....

While on the subject of this show, I have to ask what it was the Seattle Police Department's presence was there to guard against. Those rowdy Sunday car show types?? Maybe just some cheap overtime? Anyone have history as to why they felt they had to be there......?

Not fair, Bruce. Mike has been at the past 2 or 3 Canby events. Even drove #32 down last year. What he's looking for is something in addition to Canby. I can certainly support that.

That's an easy one Bruce. 50% of the Meet is people who want to show their latest mods, new aquisitions, meet friends and show their pride in workmanship, etc, etc etc.

The other 40% are those who are there to look and get ideas for their own rides, spending their sunday browsing at the best, weirdest, most outlandish Nissans that the NW has to offer.

Then there's the other 10% who absolutely insist on revving their Turbo motors to 10K-RPM's and letting the crowd be supposedly "Thrilled to hear their Blow-off valves open up and say PSSSSSSS. This is ussually followed by smoke shows, burn-outs, Launching their beaters at warp speed and a couple street racers.....

The cops decided to show up and make their presence known, to keep the idiots at bay. It worked for the most part. I didn't see any tire smoke, blurred visions of cars flying thru the park or the screeching sound of tires. But unfortunately, as stated before, they mda the show almost worthless to attend. They tried to pull every rule out of the book and turn the meet into an empty parking lot. It worked, I went home.

Had to leave early anyways, after Leahs 2nd seizure, I had to get her home and in bed. I'm suprized my ears weren't bleeding when I got home though, she's a screamer when she has seizures.

Aw, the lunatic fringe rears it's ugly head again. It's getting so that I just almost assume that's the case anymore.

As an aside, I wanted to point out that our marque spans a wide array of technology from brand new Zs to an nl320 pickup being started on the U-Tube clip with a hand crank..... Pretty cool stuff.

This was my first GG nissan event. I went to hopefully meet some CZCC menbers and did meet Dave (Zs-ondabrain) and although I didn't get to talk to him I saw Jim (a7dz), who has done a fine job restoring his Z.

I too did not care so much for the tuner crowd. there was a time when I was more into engine swaps and hybrids but not so much anymore.

I got there late 10:30 and was lucky to park in the main lot across from Dave.

we walked all the lots and saw some cool cars. The 370's were pretty cool as were the GTR's not too many vintage cars. a presidents nissan was interesting.

I'm with Dave for a local vintage Datsun show or gathering. Perhaps in the future.

The Canby meet sounds more promising for what I would like to see, So I am planning on that one.

So here are some pics of the Z's that I saw there excluding my own.

time to wash the car!!!:ermm:

Canby is great gathering to see more vintage Datsuns. Sure, there'll be no shortage of dimes and Roadsters with modern powerplants in 'em, but there'll be plenty of L-motors too.

If you make it down from WA, watch here for info about meeting up at the I-5 rest area for a Z caravan the last 5-10 miles in to Canby.

Yep, Arne's right. I've been to Canby for the last three years and it is a great event (shameless plug for Bruce ;)). I just wish we had something like that, even on a smaller scale, in the Seattle area too. As I mentioned before, the Vancouver BC show is also good and makes a nice end of summer trip.

I think we just need to start a Seattle get together with a small group and hopefully expand it as time goes on. I'll have to throw some ideas around with Dave.

There are a couple of other Seattle area events I want to check out this year:
