I have a early jdm 5 speed from a 70 240z. it was mated with a L20a motor. I'm trying to figure out what the ballpark price would be. does anyone have an idea what it is worth?

That's a hard question to answer without some other info (though I wouldn't be able to answer your question regardless of the following)

General condition? Photos of castings/serial numbers? Internal condition (does it shift smoothly or does it need rebuilt)? Et cetera

Does it have steel synchros? You might be able to pull a fill plug or a drain plug and see. If it does, and it is a close ratio transmission with OD, should be worth some coin. Even if it is the wide ratio bpx, there are still people looking for parts that would probably pay some good money for it.

currently, it is still on the car. I haven't taken it out yet, haven't made any real plans yet. PO told me it is the real early 5 speed. it looks skinny and different from the later 5 speed.

If the trans came from a car with a L20a, that car wouldn't be a 240Z. Think about it.......Post some pictures of the trans or else it's all speculation.

It is probably a type FS5C71 A or B. I would guess B. I have no idea what they are worth.

Ok, ok, it's not out of a 240Z, it's out of a Fairlady Z.

sblack01 - i will provide some pictures but not anytime soon. the car is located 40 miles away from me. the only pictures i have with me is the whole car.

26th-z - you guessed it right. it came off of a fairlady, in fact it is a real fairlady z.
