I did use a little Por-15 in the lower corners , mostly as a preventative. All the bolts came out easy. That was a good sign. Got the inside fenders cleaned and painted. Now back to sanding. Pulled the R200 diff and took it to JMortenson to have him Properly instal my LSD. Came home in 95 degree weather and the green Z held up pretty good in the heat. Installed the rebuilt R200 with CV's into the Red Z only to find that my driveline's Ujoint was shot. I was in a hurry so I left it in there and fixed that today, swapped it with the early, 1" longer driveline, which I needed in anyways. Saturday, I held the 2nd anual summer Zcar BBQ at my place. I wanted to thank Michael O'Conner, Brian Laine and his son Ben and James (S30Driver) for showing up. I had a great time BS'n with everybody and food wasn't half bad either. I also spent yesterday cleaning the hatch window and tried to get all the old window tint residue off using 3M adhesive remover. It worked! I replaced the standard round washers and lock washers from a kit, but zinced the unique items. Caswell has the kit at a discount this month for those interested. A Dremel is handy for this and other cramped areas I.E. wiper cowls and underneath. Many attachments that get into these areas thouroughly. Have fun. Took weeks for my hands to get back to normal after working under the cowl I'm not going to say this car is forever rust proof in the areas I've worked on but it should be good until the next generation owner takes over the responsibilities of keeping this car alive. I'd still like to wirebrush and treat the rust along the bottom. Not sure if it's the frame rail but you know the area I'm talking about. I'll post a pic at the end. The control arms and suspension parts really should be removed and gone over. That's what I did on my shiro. I don't think I have the motivation to go through that again at my age I'll keep tabs on your car as long as I'm around. Good luck. Here's that pic. Mikes Z car Posted July 17, 2010 Share #82 Posted July 17, 2010 Took a picture of the crossmember under the radiator to get an idea of the curve at the end for a sketchup 3D drawing I am attempting to make of the early 240Z frame. Not sure how far I will get with this as it is more time consuming to get any accuracy than I thought and I am no cad expert. I will upload what little I have so far to my blog for anyone to make use of and for any comments. Drove my 240 to the hardware store where it got looked over. Several people have commented on how nice it looks this last week or so as I have had it outside to finish the wiper motor install and the headlight harness upgrade. biddljj Posted July 26, 2010 Share #84 Posted July 26, 2010 After 4 years Z-Disease finally went for a road test today....I screwed up and put the back eibach springs in the front.This weekend I tore the 72 240 apart and put the front springs in the front.10 hours latter..... Spirted road test for 7 miles.... Big fun and every thing worksgood...
