March 24, 201015 yr comment_313539 Not sure if this car has one but I had a 1st gen celica supra that did this and it was the MAF sensor was bad. But like I said Iam not sure that the 280z had that. March 24, 201015 yr comment_313540 No MAF sensor in a 280z. Check your fuel pressure. If the car has sat for a long period of time there will be sediment in the fuel system which prevents the system from achieving/maintining the proper pressure to run correctly. March 24, 201015 yr Author comment_313545 I also go a new fuel pump installed , I'll try pressure regulator first if that not working I'll install new fuel lines ,, got to have it running Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/35170-76-280z-starts-but-dies-after-30-seconds/#findComment-313545 Share on other sites
March 24, 201015 yr comment_313546 could be vacuum issues.also, did you check that the oil dipstick is seated and seals good?when the engine is running does the brake booster work? If you depress the pedal does it make the car die faster? March 24, 201015 yr comment_313547 When it dies, does it just die instantly like you turned off the key, or does it slowly die over a matter of 10-20 seconds? Case 1 is more electrical suggesting, case 2 is more fuel related. You mentioned slowly, just how slowly? I'de be putting a fuel pressure gauge on there (after fuel filter in engine bay, before fuel rail) and watching what happens at that magic moment before I go spending any more money on parts....Jim Edited March 24, 201015 yr by zKars Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/35170-76-280z-starts-but-dies-after-30-seconds/#findComment-313547 Share on other sites
March 24, 201015 yr Author comment_313548 yeah it takes about 5-10 seconds to die slowly , what do you thin could it be fuel pressure regulator? because while is dieing its fighting to stay on ,more i keep doing it , it takes longer time to die when its gets worm Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/35170-76-280z-starts-but-dies-after-30-seconds/#findComment-313548 Share on other sites
