Posted March 28, 201014 yr comment_314067 I've got tranny fluid leaking from the area where the front of the driveshaft slides into the rear of the tranny. Anyone have a solution to this problem or know of any previous posts dealing with this? I assume it's probably a seal of some sort. March 28, 201014 yr comment_314068 The output seal is about $5-7 from Nissan. Pull the driveshaft, and R&R the seal. Simple job. Part number 32136-U0100, same for all years, I think. March 29, 201014 yr comment_314201 Wish I had read this yesterday before I hit the road in my Z. It started puking trans fluid at 70 mph on the freeway and is now at a transmission shop 100 miles from home.Dennis Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/35234-tranny-fluid-leak/#findComment-314201 Share on other sites
March 29, 201014 yr comment_314210 I just ordered a seal myself for the 260. Courtesy Nissan stocks them for around $10. I assume it's a straight forward job. Remove the driveshaft, pry the seal out and tap the new one into place. Anything else Arne? March 30, 201014 yr comment_314270 Thanks.Just like replacing the rear outer control arm bushings, right? Step 1) Remove spindle pin nuts Step 2) Remove lock pin Step 3) Remove spindle pin Step 4)... Apply sawzall, heat, cuss words, 10 tons of press, et voila! :stupid: I saved my spindle pin pieces for future use as punches and drifts. But yeah output seals are usually pretty straight forward. Just be sure the seal goes in straight and you should be fine Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/35234-tranny-fluid-leak/#findComment-314270 Share on other sites

Still waiting for the damage report from the transmission shop.Dennis Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/35234-tranny-fluid-leak/#findComment-314305 Share on other sites
March 30, 201014 yr comment_314314 Rusty or dirty or pitted yoke on the drive shaft at the seal lip. Ate it up. Polish yoke, and position the new seal at a slightly different spot in its bore to put the new lip at a different spot on the yoke. Not much else to go wrong other then the inner surface of the seal seat have crap left there after removing the old one and not cleaning it properly. All very repairable by this shop, just make sure they do it right.Jim Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/35234-tranny-fluid-leak/#findComment-314314 Share on other sites
