Don't forget many times the photos look better than the car in person, you never know what the buyers saw. If you can't bother putting the emblem behind the rear window on the driver side, what else was skipped? I think that it was a good deal on both ends for a personalized 280
Those photos don't appear to have been taken at the venue of the auction. Perhaps the emblems/etc. were there when it was at the auction.

The biggest "yuck" factor for me, was the fact that the owner didn't bother to have the engine compartment color matched with the rest of the car. Can't stand black engine bays, unless of course the rest of the car is black! ;)

Yep he should've put it on ebay or a more Import oriented venue. The emblems may have been left off for styles sake, you know like shaved door handles. But unless there are mounting holes on the hatch lid and the emblems were never applied on. Still can't see wit this cell phone LOL, ;)

Wrong venue for any Z (unless it's a Z-28)

Exactly! This is why I don't watch the Barrett Jackson auctions anymore. No respect for Japanese cars......and the endless stream of Mustangs, Corvettes, and Camaros. YAWN!!

I was at the auction Friday and took some photos of this 280Z in the staging area before they got in line for the stage. This Z had good looking paint at 20 feet but was far from original and did not deserve a big bucks bid. Simple things like the gas tank door not closing flush with the body and the rusty muffler / tailpipe were turn-offs.

The advertised balanced and blueprinted engine could not be verifed but it certainly did not sound or look like a screamer. I agree that it probably was rear ended at some time.

It sold for $6,250 plus 10% buyers premium = $6,875 + sales tax for the Governor.

True...but still both of those traded at a pretty nice premium based on their mod's...the 280Z did not (although the mods, it should be noted, we much less significant...).
