April 14, 201014 yr Author comment_316012 sorry, boss came in I should be more clear, what would the costs be from a machine shop for a typical head refurbish. I am being given 1200 from a local shop. Isn't this a little high? Much appreciated, Frankie Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/35475-head-work/#findComment-316012 Share on other sites
April 14, 201014 yr comment_316019 I got a quote here in Colorado Springs $350 to $450. $1200 is too high. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/35475-head-work/#findComment-316019 Share on other sites
April 14, 201014 yr comment_316020 If they're pulling the head that might be OK, but yeah, for the work alone that seems really high. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/35475-head-work/#findComment-316020 Share on other sites
April 14, 201014 yr comment_316025 Depends on what you want done, sure a basic valve job could cost about 450.00 but a performance valve job along with setting up a new cam will definatly be up around 900.00 to 1200.00 or more. Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go ? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/35475-head-work/#findComment-316025 Share on other sites
