Blower/fan not functioning...?

After removing the dashboard in my 76 280z I noticed the blower for the heat/AC wasn't working; it did in fact work before I removed the dash. First off, I do not currently have a belt for the AC so I know the problem there. But as for the blower in general, nothing happens when I turn the switch to 1, 2, 3 or 4. However, when I switch the control switch (whatever the switch is called that controls where the air comes from...) to the "AC" or "Recirculate" setting, I can hear a leaky air sound coming from the control console area. Not as if the blower is working, more subtle than that. I know my description might be frustrating but its sort of difficult to put to words :stupid:!

I checked and rechecked all the connections for the blower motor and fan, as well as the fuses. I can't seem to pin point the exact problem. Any help and advice is always appreciated. Thanks again everyone!

The "Leaky air sound" might be a vacuum leak. (I don't know without checking a FSM if the air controls were vacuum, or cable powered on the 76.)

On my 71 the fuse for the blower motor is actually located in an in-line fuse holder under the dash. (Not in the fusebox) I don't know if that was still true in 76.

My 77 will occasionally do that. In my case, it is a contact issue with the fuse itself. Rotating the fuse inside the metal prongs that hold it into place get it going again. I really need to clean the contacts I suppose. To the best of my knowledge, only the 78 has vacuum controls to the heat/ac system. You will be able to tell by a vacuum cannister mounted on the right innner fender and a series of vacuum lines that go into the firewall.

Yeah, I just took a look and I definitely have the cable system for the heating. However, dirty contacts that hold the fuse in place makes sense. I'll have to give them all a good cleaning. Thanks for the help guys.

I went ahead and cleaned all the contacts on the fuses, checked the blower to see if it was hooked up properly, and it was. But still no power, and that leaky air sound. Car starts however, without issue. I'll keep snooping around though.
