April 20, 201014 yr comment_316471 I assume that is a modern SBC (based on the oil filter location). What displacement will it have? Good luck with that. Are you going to use a manual, or go the automatic route? I think I offended someone once by trying to talk them out of using a TH400 in their car. I really didn't mean to be cruel, but those are just HUGE, heavy monsters intended for 3 ton cars and delivery vans. (I owned two or three cars with a turbo 400 and always thought it was funny that the transmission held more oil than the engine.) April 20, 201014 yr Author comment_316501 If you haven't already, make certain you stiffen the chassis or that extra HP & torque will twist the chassis. What kind of power do you expect from that engine? Should be a real go'er!that is the plan. Motor will be about 400 at the wheel. April 20, 201014 yr comment_316523 Engine is an LS6That will be crazy fast in Z! I have an LS2 GTO with mods that bring it to roughly 410-415 rwhp. Similar motor, but the Z weighs much less. April 25, 201014 yr comment_317186 Good to see you back here! We met at a car show in Round Rock a few years back...loved your car then, even wanted the engine for myself! Can't wait to see it again when you are done with the changes. I even remember you yanking some parts from a DFW junk yard for me and bringing them to Austin when you came to visit someone. Now I have to fix my clutch slave cylinder.. then its off to the aeros and autos car show on the 8th of may at Ellington Field. April 25, 201014 yr comment_317204 Z's are too flexible for V8's, it throws off their balance, makes them heavy, raises the CG and makes it a terrible handling car.....oh and the R200 and half shafts can't handle it. Before your panties get bunched...this is a joke and all those statements are MYTHS that have been proven otherwise. Sorry if I raised too many brows! It certainly changes the feel of the car. I like them both ways! Good luck with the build.
