April 21, 201014 yr comment_316709 Lucky you. There is a place in Washington that rebuilds them. Oliver at Z Specialties 1-800-518-5480 or www.datsunstore.com. Oliver has a shop that specializes in Z cars and what he doesn't know probably doesn't matter. Great guy to deal with. Good luck.Cheers, Mike Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/35555-78-280z-heater-valve-needed/#findComment-316709 Share on other sites

April 21, 201014 yr comment_316720 inmocean - I would like to know what your solution is!!! I have a '78 too and want to keep this from happening. Please be sure and post your findings!! I know that I would be interested in a "Group Buy" if need be. April 21, 201014 yr comment_316724 There have been tons of posts on all the Z websites regarding the heater control valve. They are no longer made or available. You can get yours rebuilt for about $180 plus a $100 core charge from datsunstore.com.Alot of S30 owners just remove the factory valve, and modify the setup with something else. I do happen to have a pair of good valves for sale. One is a vacuum setup for factory AC cars. The other is a manual valve wihich is used on both the AC & non-AC cars. Send me a PM if interested. April 22, 201014 yr Author comment_316754 leftover z, your pictures are dead on, a mechanical valve(no vacuum) with the copper capillary tube. i noticed that the posts about the valve ended with "not available," and there was never any follow-up on what actually happened next...thanks for the info and i'll keep you in mind for a replacement valve...i'm heading out now to finish removing it from the car, and we'll see. April 13, 201113 yr comment_352609 I still have the heater control valves pictured earlier. Shoot me a PM regarding which one you need, with your price offer. They are both off a '78 280Z with factory air cond. I may decide to part with them if the price is right Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/35555-78-280z-heater-valve-needed/#findComment-352609 Share on other sites
