I recently installed new weatherstrips y see meefor doors. Firstly it was hard to close but now it closes fine. BUT i did not have door panels on place. Yesterday i tried with door panel on, i couldnt get the door closed... Say, should i remove some of the rubber? i HATE to bang the doors like some maniac, some1 might call cops when the smashing that door.

It is what I needed to know.

I am not happy with it , the left door is pretty much OK but the right door.....the window frame fits offset but the door is very hard to close.

I can understand the hot climate in Vegas can fix the problem over time but my car is always covered outdoor when of of my garage and I don't believe it would solve the problem.

I am looking now at the the Mc Master weatherstrip option to have a more flexible extrusion for a better fit as discussed in this tread and I would like opinions fro members with stories to share.

Like I said, with the factory style weather strippiing, I had to SLAM my doors.

The mcmaster carr option allows me to close my doors with a light push and it closes like a brand new car. Driver side window has no leaks whatsoever, passenger side has a few small water drops at the top of the window after washing my car. Nothing extreme and not a problem for me since my car is a weekend only, no rain driver. For only $45, it was a fantastic purchase. One thing I did have to do, with the mcmaster carr stripping it has the pinch seam integrated into the rubber. You will not need the factory u-cap/finisher. On some areas, like the headliner, the pinch seam is a tighter fit due to the extra material, and takes some patience to make sure the pinch seem laps over the headliner. A little coaxing with a small flat head screwdriver, and snugging it up with the heel of your hand is required. In other areas, where there is only the metal edge, like the back side of the door near the striker, the pinch seam is a little loose. I solved this with a couple of layers of black electrical tape to thicken the edge for a better secure fit. I had the two ends meet at the bottoms of my door.

Sounds like there is no perfect weatherstripping. I just completed installing new weatherstripping around both doors. I got the OEM style from Motorsport. The U-channel and rubber are one piece. Very easy to install, less than 3 min each side. Yes, they are tight. Yes, i had to adjust the door striker. Yes, i have to use a little more force to shut the door. Im sure over a period of time the rubber will seat and the door will close easier.
