May 3, 201014 yr comment_318160 The OP's question was too vague or just not properly defined. Edited May 3, 201014 yr by TomoHawk Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/35736-remote-starter-hookup/?&page=2#findComment-318160 Share on other sites

May 3, 201014 yr comment_318173 I sent this topic to an auto mechanic friend, and he said the same thing I said; one of the wireless remotes. I told him the OP was asking about the switch you hook up to the starter, and he told me it wasn't that obvious. May 3, 201014 yr comment_318184 If you sent your mechanic the original post and he told you it was a wireless remote, you need a new mechanic! NOTHING in that post indicated a remote wireless start and everything pointed to a trigger remote. May 3, 201014 yr comment_318188 To add to the sillyness; you could use a keyless entry system to trigger a relay. This relay would then trigger the starter solenoid and there you go! Though I am too cheap to use a switch and have always just used a jumper wire. May 3, 201014 yr comment_318191 He listed all the tools needed, including a remote starter and how to hook it up. There is NO mention of a remote trigger. It says "remote starter" and after showing this (I printed it) to several mechanics and a couple other auto people, that is what each has said. Things needed to be more clear. Thanks hogie for getting back on-topic. May 4, 201014 yr comment_318319 It is ironic that I posted in this thread yesterday, because I actually had to add a starter relay. My stupid ignition switch didn't want to crank half the time on a full battery last night. Luckily, I had a spare relay left open in the box I used for my headlight relays. It was probaly the easiest thing I have done to my car so far. May 5, 201014 yr comment_318463 Yes, I know....my first post was being silly. However the Zcar gods did not find it amusing and decided to weaken my ignition switch. The relay I added was just to help me crank it over from the key. When adjusting my valves I find a peice of jumper wire does the trick nicely....who needs a switch in the middle of it. May 5, 201014 yr comment_318464 Not to beat a dead horse but my remote starter switch, which looks a lot like this, has a squeeze trigger that allows tight control over how long the starter is engaged and you can easily operate it with one hand while watching the cam lobes spin into the proper position. Yes, you can use a fixed wire or screwdriver but those don't provide the same level of control.
