Auxiliary air valve?

Hey guys, is there another name for Auxiliary air valve? (1976 280z)

I called up few of the local parts store and they "looked" at me funny as if Auxiliary air valve doesn't exist...just because it's not in their system.

If you can't find the OEM Nissan valve, try Bosch #0 280 140 124. It's a direct replacement for the JECS Air Regulator that Nissan used. Had one on my 78 280Z for almost the entire time I owned it.

Great, thank you.

I tried Google on Bosch #0 280 140 124. Nothing came up.

Where did you get yours from?

Actually, I got mine from the junkyard. As I recall, I paid about $5 for it. That was in 1997 and it was still working when I sold the car last year. As Andrew said, they don't go bad very often.

Odd thing is, with warm temperatures here, there was no hurry! All it does is add air around the throttle valve. Its the thing that holds your idle up for a minute or so when the engine and air temp is cold. A wire heats up a bi-metal strip to close it off almost right away. You'll want it when we get a good cold front like the big one that hit in January...

Is it bad to remove the air regulator completely? I only drive my car in the warm anyways, and the air regulator is getting in the way of my strut bar. If it is not bad to have the regulator removed, then I don't mind having rough idle until the car warms up, nor do I mind pressing the gas pedal a tad until it's warmed up.
