Hello guys!

I'm a junior in highschool and I have a 1973 240z in my possession. My current goal with it is to basically make it a daily driver and maybe take it around the track once in a while.

I suppose the first thing (I've been reading a lot) would be to check the baby for rust. What would be the first step for that? Is it a task that is time-intensive?

I don't think the clutch has been changed since the mid 80's and when I go over bumps too quickly, the suspensions or something is making some loud clunking noises? What is up with that?

Any other tips, or anything like that?

You should check the car for rust before you bought it, but I'm just assuming it was a gift :)

Check the dogs legs, under the battery tray, hatch balcony, floor pans (lift the carpet up), undercarriage frame rails, spare wheel area (remove rear deck carpet), wheel wells, etc. Bushing kits range from $150-200 like you said. You can order from ZBARN.COM for super fast shipping; Roger there is great! It wouldn't hurt to get a weak magnet, and try and stick it to the areas I mentioned above; see how much bondo you actually have on the car.
